He faces severe prison time and deportation, so their job is likely done by the state department in this case.

Voynov pleaded not guilty today and remains free on bail

Preliminary hearing is set for December 15.

The prosecution asked for a no-contact order for Voynov and his wife, which the judge denied.

Voynov also upgraded his legal team:
Rich Hammond @Rich_Hammond
Slava Voynov’s defense team now includes Pamela Mackey, who represented Kobe Bryant during rape allegations.

So some potential news worthy stuff:

Rich Hammond @Rich_Hammond
So, uh, Slava Voynov is practicing with the Kings. No, I don’t know why.

Rich Hammond @Rich_Hammond
Gaborik and Voynov staying out for extra work after morning skate.

Rich Hammond @Rich_Hammond
Dean Lombardi would not comment on whether Slava Voynov’s NHL status has changed. Oh boy.

If his NHL status hasnt changed (suspended), would the Kings get fined for him practicing? Any loopholes for him to be skating with the team?

@Rich_Hammond: Yeah the Kings definitely did not get permission for this Voynov stuff. They’re trying to claim he could skate because it was optional.

Kings trying to claim it was optional but the whole team was there

Sutter now claiming that Voynov was supposed to wait until after the main group skated to come out:

Jon Rosen @lakingsinsider
Sutter: "It was an optional skate and everybody went. He's supposed to come out after with the injured guys right after practice. Everybody went today...

Kings are 5-3-2 in their last 10. Need to win will begin to trumph moral outrage. As soon as some legal loophole or league bylaw allows them to get Voynov back he will be there.

Boom. Kings have been fined $100,000 for Voynov's skate today.

LOL some King fanboys are badgering the King beat reporters for reporting Voynov was practicing with the team and "ratting" them out to the NHL.

If they weren't so successful, this would be a fire-able offense. $100,000 for no gain at all.

What a stupid organizational decision by the Kings. Glad to see the league is taking this seriously if the Kings aren't.

You'd think the Kings would be more careful to distance themselves from a player who has a domestic abuse case pending. Did they learn nothing from the Ray Rice incident? They shouldn't have him anywhere near the team while suspended as it sends the wrong message, and I'm glad the league stepped up and fined them immediately for it.

If Voynov is found not guilty I wonder if he would have case for a lawsuit against the NHL. I know he's still getting paid but preventing him from playing is detrimental to his career.
