Worked late, came home watched the replay.

Most exciting game since..... since..... I have no idea. It's not a normal feeling cheering for a team that does miraculous things and doesn't quit. I really can't remember how long it's been since the Flames resembled a good team. If there ever was a game that's a statement this was it, pull the goalie with 2:30 left and end up winning in a shootout, come on now, what is going on?

Just watched the game.

Unbelievable win! They didn't play well in the first two periods, but kudos to them for fighting back and never giving up. Loudest I've heard the Dome on tv this year.

Glad for Karri to get the win as I think the goaltending competition drives both players.

One more: The Flames currently have twice as many points as Edmonton.

We also have 22 goals more, and have allowed 13 less.

Well sucks that the NHL doesn't clean the ice for OT and the shootout anymore. Trying to deke out the goalie got much harder. All the goals in the shootout were straight shots.

Not even one or two passes from the zamboni? That's weak.

That's such an inaccurate picture....there is no way all of the oilers would be in the defensive zone like that

However, if you were a crusty old geezer like me, you would realize that nothing could ever compare to April 4, 1986.

The Oilers were unbeatable that year. In their first seven games, the Flames had gone 0-6-1 against Team Gretzky. Nobody expected anything different going into the final BoA of the regular season.

Final score that night: Flames 9, Oilers 3.

It was then that I realized that the Flames really could beat the Oilers. As they did in seven games later that spring (with a little help from Steve Smith).

April 4 was the night the Battle of Alberta changed forever. Up to then, it had been a one-sided slaughter. After that, the Flames would never lie down and die for the Oilers again.

Back on topic: That Flames team suffered a ton of injuries, but pulled through because of amazing depth and a never-say-die attitude — just like this one. Terrific finish to this game, like so many others!
I'll always remember this game, I lined up for 7 hrs and never got a ticket. They ran out of tickets 5 people in front of me...

Was a great game on the ol TV set!

Good point, here's a more accurate one that includes the swarm defence and Taylor Hall calling for a breakaway pass.

Also, I have come to love the "this guy scored" arrows!

Always great to see old video game screen shots again.

Thanks to you both!

The thing about that clip that I like the most is how emphatically he drove that puck in. I wonder if Ference is regretting signing in Edmonton and thinking if I score repeatedly on my own net maybe they'll trade me.
