Would like to see some names of possible rh puck moving or physical d-men that might either help the flames in Addy or up on the Flames as an injury recall.
One guy I wouldn't mind on Addy would be Bobby Sanguinetti who is playing for the Comets this year and is a +11 already. Is a good passing d-man rh shot and had really good corsi numbers with the Hurricanes a couple of seasons ago. Played last year in the KHL and Vancouver picked him up this year and have him on the Comets.
Any other AHL d-men or d prospects you know of that are RH shots that could help?
Location: Oklahoma - Where they call a puck a ball...
Exp:
Not RH either but Matt Donovan from the New York Islanders. He kind of got pushed down the depth chart with the Islanders D-men trades. He has been a healthy scratch for every game. It's not because he isn't talented, it's just because they have a lot of D. They are afraid to send him to the AHL because he would have to clear waivers. The Islanders don't want to risk losing him for nothing.
Not only is Donovan an Oklahoman (ok I am a bit bias here)... but still.. I mean he has already played with Johnny Hockey
Good idea for a thread, its nice to dream of the potential riches that await us...
We should target teams that either have a lot of D prospects (Islanders, Phoenix, New Jersey, Buffalo, Montreal, Tampa) or teams that have a solidified top 6 (LA, Islanders, St Louis, Chicago). Don't have time to go through their depth charts but this is where I would start.
New Jersey seems like the obvious one for me and I feel like Lou would have interest in some of our forwards in a package (Glencross, Sven, Knight, Hanowski).
Back on the Washington topic other than Orlov they hav hillen, erskine, Schmidt, wey, oleksy, kundratek and schilling and also have Landry and mike Moore on ahl contracts
Mackenzie Weegar. Panthers prospect playing in the minors right now. Shoots right and played with the Halifax Mooseheads. The write up on him in different prospect sheets list him as an intelligent good puck moving defenseman and makes good decisions with the puck.
I wouldn't mind getting Connor Murphy out of Arizona. They have too many defenceman as it is, and he's a 6'4" right shot defenceman and only 21. He was a scratch most nights last year for the Coyotes and again, they have an overload of D men on the team, in addition to prospects, that if we tossed them a good RW prospect they would probably have to consider it. Their current RW's are Doan, Moss and Erat, all who are getting up there. They only have 3 true RW's in Portland and I believe have only drafted 3 RW's in the last 4 years.

The AHL is littered with superstars that cant make the NHL. Lets just take a breath and go for the ride...Im sure management and scouts have a good idea who can help and who cant.
Ian White
- Good skater, shotblocker, decent puck-mover
- posted a +23 in 2011-12 for the Red Wings, +46 for his 500+ game career
- right-handed
- 30 years old with NHL experience including the Flames, Sharks, Red Wings
- he's a bit small at 5'10, but that might not be a problem beside Smid or Engelland
- Twelve points in 22 games in the AHL this season
- i don't have a clue why he fell out of the league so hard and so quick. Maybe someone who watches AHL does?

Chad Ruhwedel is a great choice. He's a right handed version of Kris Russell, complete with the bomb from the point. Buffalo has about 8 D-men ahead of him, but that's not because Ruhwedel is bad, they've just got some freakish depth there.

Wasn't Ian White paired with Lidstrom for most of 11/12?
Big NO to Ian White. It didn't work once, I don't think it works now. There is a reason that he's not on any other teams right now... I think he played well in TO but I think his game started to drop off his second year with the Flames and never really bounced back. A few teams took a chance on him but he was always just meh.
I think if we're going to do something like this, we look for some of the previous mentioned players and young players like that.

To me the shopping list is limited because they must meet certain criteria.
- Right handed shot.
- Minimum 6'2
- Minimum 200 pounds
- Good skater
- Plays physical
- Under the age of 24, preferably 21 or 22.
I don't want to see retreads or career minor leaguers brought in. I want to see a move that fits in with a team in the 2nd year of a rebuild with the intentions of solidifying the lineup and making big improvements in the next year or two.

Yes, but anyone who checks off all those boxes would cost a king's ransom.
It's going to cost a lot to get a lot but the thing is we need someone who checks all those boxes. It's going to suck if we have to trade for someone because it'll cost a lot but unless we draft someone like that, it's how we're going to have to do it. One way or another, we're going to have to get someone like that in the next year or so.
