Yes, you lost to them twice in a row BECAUSE YOU AREN'T AS GOOD!
I'm looking forward to their three-peat this year!

You know, taking out that ridiculous 16 game win streak, because it was just that, ridiculous. And moving the goal posts a bit here. The No Goods have been an under .500 team for nearly half the season at 17-18-2 and not to mention giving up damn near 4 goals a game. I still don't think they're a lock to make the playoffs. They have the toughest 3rd of their season coming up and play 29 games in 56 days. They don't have many gimme games left against the real bottom feeders. I think it's conceivable that they go 12-17 or something close to that and finish 92-93 points and miss out. Of course I may be overly optimistic in this scenario but this is also a team that started 5-12-1. So they have that in them. A key injury and Skinner to keep up his recent struggles and anything is possible.

Not saying it's going to happen but just the thought of the Oilers missing after the winning streak is amazing to think of. I can only imagine the tears. Would be an epic demonstration of their no goodness.

Especially if they trade their 1st and a prospect or two before they swoon.

I like that the standings don't even matter to their shills any more. Even in 31st they had the audacity to use the word "cup", which is unreal when you think about it.

It couldn't happen to a more deserving team. And it would be even more satisfying than them just sucking all year since they wouldn't get a high pick out of it.

Imagine if they traded their remaining prospect talent to the Flames for Tanev then proceeded to miss, then Tanev returned to Calgary in July.

Would be cool, but the only problem with that scenario is that it implies they have remaining prospect talent.

I know it's been talked about here, but IMO the best part of this Oiler season is Connor Brown.

Obviously the fact that he has no points and takes up a roster spot is hilarious, even more when you consider that his bonus will effect their cap next season while making it harder for them to ice a competitive roster. And all for playing merely 10 games!

The best part though, IMO, is what it shows about the roster and team composition. Connor brown, for all his faults, had a remarkably consistent stretch of 6 seasons at ~0.5 ppg. Generally on lower lines, and generally with mixed defensive results. But still, ~0.5ppg.

He's not even going to score 7 points on this Oiler squad. Playing beneath Connor and Leon seems to suck the motivation and talent from virtually any player. They are the anti-motivators. Players get worse playing with these guys.

Also gives me hope that Holloway could turn it around in a better environment. #savedylan

Some can never recover after being Oilers. Yamamoto looked like he had a bright future prior to being drafted by Edmonton. He got out, but still only has 12 points in 46 games in Seattle.

Probably suffering from PTNGD (Post Traumatic No Good Disorder). Here's to hoping he can defeat that no good demon.

And Oiler fans and media thought he was the trade piece that was going to land them Erik Karlsson last season.

Oilers & Skinner lose to their backup. Flames & Markstrom beat their starter.

This obviously means that the Flames are now elite Cup favourites and will be salivated over by the media and everyone at Sportsnet. Right??

"lost to the cup champs 2 years in a row!"

2 wins in both series combined but okay

Exactly.

If you go the full 7 games against a team that goes on to win the Cup, then you get to brag about coming close. But 4 or 5? A speed bump doesn't get to brag because it was run over by a Maserati.

I am worried sick about the poor Oilers having another B2B, in their arena, with the only travel being driving to and from the rink, while having to sleep in their own beds. So, if I have this right, 4 B2Bs, two in their home rink, 1 in LA, and one in the NYC area. Have they actually had real travel on a B2B yet? Yup, no favouritism there. And then a break until next Wednesday. Truly admirable work, schedule maker.
