Seems like more Transformers talk here so i'll pose this question here.
I haven't seen a Transformers since the 2nd one. Do they form any sort of almost cohesive storyline?
I mean, Michael seems to have basically unlimited cash to make these things. I don't even want to think about how much they're paying actors who can do pretty much whatever they want to be in these (Anthony Hopkins?!). You'd think they could plot out like 7-8 movies that at least relate to each other.
The newest trailer had me slightly intrigued.
Cmon man, you're just hating on the movies for the sake of it.
You basically posted: "I haven't watched these movies, so I don't know what the plots are, but these movies have no plots.."
The Transformers movies are what they are. Michael Bay movies staring Meghan Fox and Marky Mark about giant robots.
The Autobots are good guys and the Decepticons are bad guys. Some new threat is introduced, which threatens the Earth. The good guys win. What do people expect? And yes, the movies do tie into each other. Characters die. The Autobots are accepted, then their feared, then accepted again...it's not Shakespeare here.
Wait, Meghan Fox is still in these movies? Maybe I should start watching these. Like Locke, I'm pretty sure the last one I saw had an old Transformer with a crutch. It's been a long time, in any case.

A better questions is how is Marky Mark still employed. Now that he's in his mid-40s are people really still interested in seeing him shout semi-coherent lines in a squeeky voice and take his shirt off?

No I'm really not I was genuinely curious. As I said I haven't seen one since the 2nd one, and the new trailer has me intrigued cuz it looks kind of cool. I was just wondering if there's an overarching story here. He seems to have carte blanche, so I curious if he does some fun things with story at all. I liked the first Transformers
Seeing as how its integrated into the Marvel Universe I think their rights expired already.
I think it's more complex than that. Sony still has the rights, but they lent them to Marvel for the Civil War movie. Marvel is co-producing the new Spiderman movie with Sony.
Quote:
Marvel Studios won’t pay Sony Pictures for the rights to put Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War,” the “Avengers” franchise or its other superhero films, as part of its new partnership with the studio, according to sources with knowledge of the deal. At the same time, Marvel won’t receive a cut of the box office for any of Sony’s films that feature Spider-Man. Sony won’t receive a percentage of the revenue Disney makes from Marvel’s films that have Spider-Man, either.
Usually it is based on the current owner, in this case Sony, making a movie every few years or losing the rights.
The current arrangement arose because Sony ####ed up the Spider-Man franchise, almost beyond repair, with the abomination that was Spider-Man 3 and the jumbled mess that was the Andrew Garfield incarnation.
