For like one glorious month in 2008 it worked. Then one of the connections frizzed out or something. When I served on the condo board there we looked at trying to get it fixed while doing a full window clean of the building. It kept coming out prohibitively expensive with no guarantee it wouldn't fail again. I don't know why they just don't turn the section that still works off. If I recall correctly the entire vertical strip is 3 separate LED sections.

...and still looks like they just threw a bunch of ugly metal bars at the top to fulfil the "tallest building in Calgary" goal. The crown colour and material contrasted against the glass exterior of the building looks so brutal and unfinished.

Better yet, rocket diesel fuel refinery and refill station at the top of a space pipeline!* All refinery emissions occur out of atmosphere for zero greenhouse emissions.

*Carbon nanotube pipeline technology pending.
