Does it correspond with the dumbass coaches pulling goalies with 3+ minutes left?

Pretty dumb to think you can maintain possession long enough to make it worthwhile

Why is that dumb? Because they've always done it with 1 minute left so that must be smart?

What have you been saying this whole conversation? Answer: goal differential is up due to empty net goals. Why are empty net goals up? Because coaches are pulling the goalie much earlier.

So yes, it's dumb. Because it isn't working.

No, I've been saying that using goal differential including ENGs to evaluate competitive balance in the league is silly, not that pulling the goalie earlier is dumb.

I never said that you said pulling the goalie was dumb. Maybe take a moment to read and digest before responding. We aren't getting paid by the word here.

I rarely have a long response, so I'm not sure why you'd accuse me of being paid by the word.

The teams leading in goal differential this season are not doing so based on ENGs.

Yeah, I get there might be an uptick in ENGs in recent years, but in my mind the only way a team with a +50 differential isn't good is if the rest of the league has a +200 diff.

As I have already pointed out, the increase in empty-net goals amounts to less than five goals per team per year. That does not begin to account for the change in goal differentials.
