When does Curtis Lazar draw into the lineup?
I don't know if this has been discussed elsewhere since trade deadline, so I thought I'd start this thread. I imagine it's more or less about learning systems but when does Curtis draw in? Who would he replace when he does? Are we waiting for another injury situation with our lines rolling so well? Thoughts?
Mods please delete this post if this topic is being discussed in another thread.

I think it is about time Lazar plays. I would do it today. RW - 4L. That means Chaisson buys the popcorn. Taking Chaisson out certainly will not change the chemistry of this team. I think Chaisson works hard on the ice, but he really is quite ineffective most of the time. If Lazar can come in and at least create some chaos or pound bodies, he can NOT SCORE just as well as Chaisson. It might also light a fire under Chaisson, who has been given every opportunity to succeed that anyone could have asked for this season.

Flames have already publicly said they won't be putting Lazar in the lineup during this winning streak unless there is a forward injury. Team is playing well and there is no need to touch the lineup unless they have to.

GM's and coaches are just as superstitious as players - no way they are making changes until they lose again.

Yeah, obviously can't put Lazar in until we lose. If he plays tonight and we happen to lose, there will be people who point the finger at the coach for changing things up.

Chiasson is still playing the system, which involves some defensive aspects. What tells you that it wouldn't change the chemistry? Can Lazar play the defensive aspects of the system as well as Chiasson?

I think this streak is a perfect situation for Lazar. It is giving him time to reset himself emotionally. It is giving him time to see the system. It is giving him a chance to get to know the team. And it is making him hungry.
Once he gets in the lineup, he'll be a caged tiger, dying to prove that the Flames made a good decision.

Just want to say that Chiasson has played a very steady game since getting demoted to the 4th line. Bouma/Stajan/Chiasson has logged some good minutes for us and its been a big big reason why we are winning as Gulutzan feels comfortable rolling 4 lines consistently.
That said I too can't wait till Lazar gets a shot and he will in good time; no reason to split up the forwards right now though they are flying.

He's been better but he still makes some boneheaded plays like the offside last game where he decided to do a curl right at the blue line, essentially putting himself and Bouma offside. You're a 4th liner, go grind it out.

Hoping when the dust settles everyone is healthy and we see Lazar replace Chiasson in the lineup

It's not about superstition it's about fairness and reward. It's a team game and when everyone's playing as a team, everyone gets credit for the win. People want to be rewarded for working hard and knowing you'll play again if you win is motivation.

They're winning. They shouldn't play "one mistake and you're out". Chiasson made a couple nice plays down low as well, and had a really good chance with a nice move.

I'd do it now, since injuries have forced the Flames to tinker with the lineup anyway.
Feng Shui has already changed.

There is enough forced changes already due the Hamilton and Stone injuries, switching in Lazar will be even more risky.....

I would switch Chaisson with Lazar. Chaisson is very unlikely to be qualified this off-season and Lazar is in the Flames long term plans. Time for him to play. Basically zero risk putting him in.

With that in mind I hope he doesn't play until next season.
I'm eager to see what this kid has to offer, but I'd rather see us go undefeated all the way to the Cup.

I'm going to go ahead and say I'm glad they didn't replace Chiasson tonight...
