Gary Lawless moves to Vegas

Looks like he will be the mouth piece of the organization. Got good practice in Winnipeg basically shining Chevys boots for 6 years.

Aw, I was hoping that he was moving to the Sun.
Not the paper, the star that warms our world.

So I guess he's off the CFL beat, then.

Its weird that they referred to him as the team insider. Why does an NHL team need its own insider? Its an NHL team. Pretty sure they have all the scoops.

Because he's writing for NHL.com, it's akin to calling Aaron Vickers an insider. for the Flames

The Kings have an "Insider" as well in Jon Rosen:

It'll be interesting to see how the Golden Knights use Lawless. The Kings will use Rosen to "break" stories and such (obviously fed to him).

I think George Johnson would be a more comparable figure covering the Flames. Vickers still works for the Herald doesn't he?

I'm not from Calgary, I only know Vickers from the Flames website, so I wouldn't know about his affiliations with the papers. I also wouldn't insult Johnson by putting Lawless as a comparable, I made a point not to use Johnson. Lawless is on par with Garrioch, Francis and the boughten schils up in Edmonton.

True enough. I meant they were similar in the sense they are affiliated with the team.
Edit: I checked and Vickers doesn't work for the herald. He does NHL.com stuff, so you are correct.

It's a bit of a loss in that he was also a CFL insider but I was never a fan although he's become less of a shock journalist over the years. I like the move on the part of the Golden Knights bringing in someone to help cover the team that is established although IMO he's kind of lacking in charisma. Big winner is Lawless as moving from Winnipeg to Las Vegas must feel like when the Oilers won the McDavid lottery.
