When your role players don't play well, the blame will always go to the top player on the team, especially when he didn't do much in a game 7.

It might not be fair, but its the truth of the matter, and Trotz didn't help much with his post game no comment about Ovie.

Look at his playoff stats, they speak for themselves.

Raise that stats banner, right next to the regular season champs banners.

Even last night he was back checking and causing turnovers.

The Caps are built for the playoffs. They have all the right pieces, and the right mix of vets and young legs and coaching. Why can't they get past the 2nd round? I have no idea, but it's not on Ovi's shoulders directly that is for sure.

Built for the playoffs, can't get out of the 2nd round. Multiple coaches, players, even game 7 Justin Williams. Still can't do it.

Hockey is a game of bounces and there is luck involved. The best team doesn't always win. Just because the Caps can't win it all doesn't have to mean the team is/was flawed.

He has 40 points in his last 60 playoff games, I don't think that's particularly impressive for a player of his caliber. I certainly wouldn't pin the Capitals' lack of playoff success just on him, but he hasn't been good enough in most of his recent playoff appearances.

His playoff production in the last 5-6 years has been closer to guys like Bonino, Ward, and Bickell than it has been to guys like Crosby, Malkin, Kane, Getzlaf, or Kopitar.
