This thread brings back some memories of some Great Wars of words I've had with Phanuthier.

Hopefully he pulls through and is all right, and that it isn't a brain eating amoeba attack.

I'm not sure about Okposo's concussion history, but I do remember him getting a concussion against the Flames in preseason after a Phanuef hit a few years back. I hope it's not brain injuries.

This isn't MGH grand rounds, it's a casual internet forum full of hockey enthusiasts. Unless Okoposo's doctor is consulting CP for its medical opinion, its OK.

There's a mod on the Sabres board close to the situation that says he is still in the hospital -- he knows what's going on and said it's a scary and very serious situation but obviously can't elaborate further.

Thought that I would bump this thread with some vague news. Sounds like he had a concussion and then a reaction to some of the meds: https://sports.yahoo.com/news/kyle-o...-sh&soc_trk=tw

Considering where he was in the hospital, that's probably one of the "best" types of issues it could have been. Good to know it wasn't something more serious for his long term health.

This is a very silly comment when you have no clue what medicine we're talking about

Update - He has visited the Sabres team facility, still a ways to go in the healing process.

Kyle Okposo and his family shed some light on what happened before and after his time in the ICU. The flood of traumatic memories and subsequent personality change is fascinating. https://theathletic.com/538676/2018/...s-of-his-life/
Sorry for bumping an old thread.

Wow that's wild. I have a terrible hockey memory, but for whatever reason I still remember Dion laying out Okposo with a massive hit years ago (probably about a decade).
Edit for dustygoon: haha, guess it isn't all that odd after all.

I gotta say this was a pretty dark thread with several members practically writing Okposo's obituary. 0_O

What a well written story. Amazing what Kyle and his family have gone through. I'm sure a lot of players go through some deep turmoil but this kind of honesty really makes you root for the guy.
