Baertschi is a lot like Versteeg. Decent player who will put up a few points for you, gives you flashes of skill from time to time and a guy you don't mind to have on your roster. But if he's a fixture in your top 6 your team is probably struggling.

We will see. Baertschi could still continue to develop.
This one might be a lot on Hartley. He really hated Sven.

I don't know what game to watch. BOS-NYI is huge, but so is MTL-OTT.

Boudreau seems to have run the Wild into the ground...they Blew an 8 point lead in the Central, with THREE games in hand, over the course of a month!
I truly hope that your guys can lock up a spot in the Playoffs, and it would be a hoot to interact with you guys if there is a H2H matchup with my guys...it's been a few years since we had a Flame/'Hawk round, and it was a blast discussing the games with you guys and girls!
Wishing both our teams the best until then...

Or are you implying he would suddenly suck on a good team playing top six minutes?

There are plenty of players who are moderate sized fish in a small pond type of players who look bigger by comparison. Look at Matt Stajan for instance, very few people would consider him to be a good top 6 player at any point in his career, but he was able to put up a 55 point season with Toronto in 2009 playing on a dreadful team. As every single NHL player is really, really, really good at hockey, even the worst player on the worst team is still really good at the sport, with ice time there are bound to be goals and points. The test will be whether Baertshi will continue to be a top six player on a good team or just be a top 6 player on a team that has fewer other options for ice time.
He is putting up points, playing well defensively and has been clicking with Horvat. Personally I don't see anyone on the Canucks right now who would be a top offensive player for the future but to dismiss the potential for a 23 year old player who is flirting with 20 goals out of hand is quite foolish on the part of Flames fans. If Jankowski were to put up a season like Baertshi is next year the expectations going forth would be sky high and they would both be in their same draft + 6 season. (has it been that long!)

Baertschi is like a Stempniak or Boyes type guy.
He will get you points with enough playing time and on the PP, but if he is in your top 6? Your team is really weak.

Baertschi doesn't have the gamebreaking ability to be an elite top 6 winger, but I don't see the purpose in dismissing his potential out of hand as many people are doing here. Look at Mikael Backlund, when he was 23 he put up 16 points in 32 games and people were looking at him as topping out as a third line type of player. Given a few more years of development and time and patience and I would say he is a very good, if not elite second line center who is a huge reason that the Flames are going to make the playoffs. I don't think it is a good idea to cast someone off for early struggles, especially when they do have the potential that is evident when looking at both players talent
A player like Versteeg is still a damn good player who helped a team win a Stanley Cup and if Baetschi had his career that would be a great player for the Canucks to have for a second round pick

'Hawks were on a PK, going on a SH breakaway, Panther D-Man takes an egregious dive, gets rewarded and the Panthers get a 5 on 3 PPG and then score again, just as Kruger steps out of the box, after the 2nd penalty expired, just after the Refs swallow their whistles on an blatant O-Zone trip by Jagr.
Q's mustache is wearing a ferocious frown, and the 'Hawks are down 3-0, going to a wretched "make-up" penalty call. I have no use for dives, and referee management of games with non-calls and "make-up" calls, even if they are in my team's favor. This is ridiculous for a top professional league.

Leafs down 5-2 after 2 to the lowly Sabres. Not the only problem tonight, but I have no idea what on earth Babcock sees that's good enough in Ben Smith for him to play in the NHL.

Sharks on course to lose 6th straight. Just when we needed them snap out of this slump and do us a favour by beating Nashville. It's ok though, I'm sure they'll play like world beaters again once the playoffs start.

'Hawks are mailing one in...Reimer and the goalposts frustrated the Offense, and after some PPGA, the game got chippy. Marchessault has a hat-trick, he, Barkov and Huberdeau have had the games of their lives. Darling in relief gave up 2 goals on the first 3 shots against. 7-0 with eight minutes to go.
The 'Hawks, over the past 15 years have sometimes taken nights off against non-O6 Eastern teams, when on the road.
But full marks to Reimer, Marchessault, Barkov, et. al.

Riley Nash with the early third period goal proves to be the winning goal, 2-1 Boston in regulation time.
The Hurricanes win 3-1 over the Devils.
