Emile Poirier on 'Personal Leave'
As per FlamesNation.ca
Highly touted prospect in the past few years, is he Rico Fata'd?

Last I heard he was a healthy scratch for a LONG period of time. Disappointing how his trajectory has gone.

Not sure why you'd come to that conclusion. For all we know he is dealing with issues that are affecting his on-ice performance.
In the interview on fan960 yesterday, Pascal mentioned that the Flames still see Poirier as a top prospect, and it definitely sounded like he wasn't going to give any more details on the personal leave

Emile Poirier on 'Personal Leave'

Pascal on 960 says Poirier has been on personal leave from the team.
Says they hope to have him back soon, still think of him as a top prospect for the team.

The long period of time of "healthy scratch" was Personal leave. At least that was what Brad Pascal intimated yesterday, when Kerr asked why Poirier wasn't in the lineup.

Gotcha, that's good news I guess. Hopefully he comes back and takes a couple steps forward.

Been awhile since he's been touted at all, let alone highly, hasn't it?
Regardless, hope he's doing alright.

I believe in the Jays.

I hope it's not a Daniel Ryder type of thing.

Could be anything. Could be family issues, could be a bad attitude.
Hoping for the best, naturally.

Note that Pascal says Poirier has the team's full support.

He was one of those players that I wondered about having the drive to play professional hockey. He has all the talent in the world, but some kids would just prefer doing different things.
I hope he comes back, but wish him all the best if he has decided to move on.

Pascal mentions he has had an "up and down season" and "he has had to leave the team.....he's taken a personal leave".

Yeah - no faulting him for that. The only expectations that should matter are his own if that's the case.

Hmm. Maybe it's similar to Ryan Howse. The drive to be a pro hockey player just isn't there?

Not really any point in speculating. All we can do is wish Emile the best, whatever it is he is dealing with. Flames organization will update when and if appropriate.

I don't want to play doctor from 2,082.7 KM away but with the way his posture looked I think it could have been his shoulder, which could be bad. 6-8 weeks for sure. At least.
