Mike Ribeiro and Alexei Marchenko on waivers
not confirmed by any of the usual waiver news breakers
Jon Rosen @lakingsinsider
Heard (unsolicited) from a source that Mike Ribeiro was placed on waivers by Nashville.
He reportedly asked for a trade 2 days ago.
edit: confirmed

Ironically he would probably still be on today's Flames roster if he didn't block the trade in 2014.

Even if Calgary put in a claim for Ribeiro, pretty sure he wouldn't even make it to us. On pace for 40-50 pt season, agitates, decent offensive instincts. Guessing Colorado or AZ snaps him up.

Nashville waiving Ribeiro...in preparation of going after Duchene perhaps?

I don't get it, 5th in team scoring, why? Locker room problems?

Huh?? I think we're still paying his buyout.. plus rumours (True rumours) that he would follow ice girls home.. I'd say, this will not happen with 1000% certainty

We should - we claim Ribeiro, we can move Bennett to wing and Stajan back to the fourth line. If there are any other 40-50 point centres who make $1.2 the rest of the year and can be had for free, I'd love to see them.
Winston Churchill once said of Stalin 'if Hitler invaded Hell, I would make at least a favorable reference to the devil' - do we want to make the playoffs or not?

Can a team actually place multiple claims at once?

Didn't Ribeiro block a trade to the Flames once?
Makes me think he wouldn't be such a good fit here.

I would def give Mike a shot, we're lacking in skill up front, I mean ideally we want a big winger with a RH shot, but I still think Ribeiro could help us with his offensive skills. If he doesn't...no big deal, let him walk at the end of the season. I'm not sure how the rules work in this situation, but couldn't we trade him? Surely we could get a pick. I'm confused as hell as to why Nash just dumped him on waivers, has to be some kind of drama going on here. Maybe there's a good reason to stay away but until we know for sure, why not take a no-risk chance.

0 goals, 6 points in 30 games. Am I missing something on Marchenko?

Stajan is playing fourth line.

There's no financial risk, but there sure is a locker room risk.

Ribeiro for whatever reason has never really fit it, on any team. He's still a decent player, but I'd pass.
