Someone create a "look at me, I'm the captain now" meme with his disappointed face.

"It was remarkable what happened after that."

What? Plodding along to a stunning number of losses? Yeah, that was remarkable.

If the Oilers offer that, he'll get an offer sheet and be gone. I think they will have to give him over $10MM probably closer to $11MM. If Kane and Toews make $10.5MM then there is no way they let their unproven savior go. Especially if he puts up big regular season numbers.

Oilers have a reckoning coming after next season. They have 2 seasons to make major progress, win some big trades, or hope their draft picks step up. After that their going to run into cap trouble very quick.

Eberle, the guy who has no idea where his own end is, is one of the assistants. That is just so awesome, the exact leader that team needs.

This is going to be a stunning disaster. I for one cant wait.

And you can rationalize it as: "well who else?"

But thats not good either. Thats kind of an indictment of the entire organization from top to bottom.

Kind of like when MacTavish fired Eakins and then...just coached the team himself.

Too bad they made the change. The vacant captaincy was very fitting for that festering infection of a franchise. The notion in itself implied the bus was driving itself right off a cliff.

The sad/hilarious fact is that, looking at their roster, several years into Rebuild v. 3.0, there's no obvious person who would have been a better choice than a 19 year old kid with 45 games experience.

It's just shining a spotlight on their own ineptness as an organisation.

Mcdavid sounds like he hates his life everytime I see him in an interview, seriously... just so miserable. Does he have friends?

Here is another Target on McDavid's back to the rest of the league. I give him 30 games before injured.

Not surprising but I just don't like giving young guys the C. I think the worst part is I can't think of a better alternative for them.

Swapping it around and making Lucic C and McDoodle A would have been a better option, IMO, but even that is a stretch, considering Lucic hasn't played a day in an Oilers jersey.

Just looked at the roster to see if there were any better suggestions. Yikes. May as well give the new mascot a letter.

The best part of that is the automatic door that won't close because they're standing in the way of it.
