The more confident he gets, the more of a beast of a player he is really showing himself to be. It's Dougie 2.0. Just made for the modern age.

Well to be fair not all the kids looked good. Ferland, Bouma before injuries. Monahan too. I classify Backlund as a kid lol, I'm old.

I'm relieved to see him start to come into his own after such a quiet start to the season. Probably just a matter of building confidence.

To really play his game he still needs another 15 pounds, but the fact he's starting to have success at his current age and weight is very encouraging. At full size he'll be just what Gaudreau needs: a skilled scorer who goes to the areas Gaudreau can't.

As we all try to do... I'm trying to think who he reminds me of as a player. I would say it's almost a mix of Giroux, Parise, and Duchene... Maybe a little bit of Perry in there cause of the chip on his shoulder when he's on the ice. Not saying he's as good as any of them (maybe he will be though) but his play style and the way he handles himself out there reminds of a hybrid between those players.

It's really exciting that both him and gaudreau seem to be those kind of players with the talent and competitive drive to take over a game... You could even see it last night.

I've always thought of Bennett as a gritty Duchene

Interesting. Kind of agree with that. I've always seen him as Corey perry as a center. Not quite as much of a pure release but plays very similar style.

I'd like to see Ferland on that Bennett Gaudreau line. I think his game is perfectly suited for Bennett and will also help make space for Johnny.

Exciting to think we may have our future first line forwards and top d pairing already in the organization. Perhaps we already have our future top 6 forwards and top 4 d already somewhere in the organization as well.

I'm stoked. I think Gaudreau is our main star offensively and Brodie is our most important player but perhaps Bennett could be our most effective player soon.

He seems to take everything right to the net. He has a competitive nature and drive that not many on our team have. You rarely see a 19 year old rookie with his drive and compete level. It's inspiring. I hope he stays healthy and has a great season.

I'd like to see someone other than Bennett answer the bell when Gaudreau takes a nasty check or slash. I love seeing him stand up for his teammate but surely between engelland and Bollig we are spending around 7 million in their truculence, leadership, grit and willingness to stand up for the kids. Next time someone goes after Gaudreau and nobody but Bennett does something I'm going to lose it.

What a smart play. I mean, to beat Duchene by playing it off the back of the goal frame is just genius. Funny when he puts it in though, Varlamov just sits them dumbstruck thinking "what the heck just happened, how has he scored from there?!"

Sam has a very calm, almost mild demeanor...the better to fool his opponents before going into OFFENSIVE BEAST MODE.

I find he's really strong for his frame/size right now. He has lots of room to bulk up but his hits and strength along the boards is already really effective. His forechecking is really good and it's a skill that's really rare to be elite at... Guys like gaudreau and datsyuk are what I consider to be elite when it comes to forechecking.
