The win puts Dmitrov and a one-handed backhand back into the top 10!
Grigor has been playing like a top 10 player for the last 10 months or so. His ranking just didn't reflect it because he kept running into the rat due to some bad draw luck and finally yesterday he was able to perform an extermination.

Sinner has the best 3 performance ratings in matches this year. Ridiculously polished for his age. Can Carlitos make the most of the age difference?
That's the most impressive thing to me, just how unflappable he is in the big moments. When you consider he really didn't take up tennis seriously until the age of 12, it's incredible how far he has come in such a short period of time. Not to belabor this point, but Sinner has also be willing to make coaching changes to his team in the quest to become an even better tennis player.
Once Djoker retires, right now it looks like Carlitos will be his main and possibly only rival. I think clay might be the best chance for guys like Ruud and Rune to compete with Sinner and Charlie as the slower, higher bounce takes some of the sting out of the powerful game that both Sinner and Alcaraz possess.
Giron takes it 6-2 7-5 on a blustery, cool night. I don't read too much into this result in all honesty, it was not a nice night for tennis and Shapo didn't look all that engaged.
Rafa continues to practice, but will not play Monte Carlo.
If he doesn't start getting into tournaments soon it's hard to imagine him being a major factor at the French Open. As good as he is (on clay especially) I don't believe he can just flick a switch and be in match form as the levels of play is so high now. It took Zverev 3/4 of a year to get back close to where he was after missing all that time, Thiem never got his game back, and Felix these days is in tough facing qualifiers.
Can somebody (anybody) please fix Leylah's serve? She lost to Sloane Stephens 6-4 6-4 earlier today in Charleston on the clay and the main culprit is her serve. It's not just the double faults (she had 6 today), it's just putting way too much pressure on the rest of her game. Ground strokes are fine, movement is very good, but that serve is going to hold her back until it becomes more reliable.

This is very bad mainly from the umpire but also from Garin - To summarize, Borges was up break point in the second set and a Garin shot was called out by someone in the crowd. Borges returned the shot to Garin who then proceeded to hit the ball wide. For some reason, the umpire awarded the point to Garin. Borges is rightfully upset and calls for the supervisor who does nothing. Garin also does nothing and ultimately displays very bad sportsmanship. Just a flustercluck all the way around.

My god. Serious no good reffing from whoever that chair person is. That guy should get suspended. Like, really, there's no scenario where Garin should get awarded that point. Unreal.
And sad stuff from Garin there showing a severe lack of class, sportsmanship and a backbone. I thought Garin would've been better than that.
