Don't forget the declining former high end players willing to sign for cheap to get another shot at the cup.

Also the fact that they have to have a revolving door of depth players to accommodate the top end player salaries means that in addition to the well known city & having a competitive team they also have an "opportunity" advantage... they'll always have spots to offer. They're set up sweet (Until Kane & Toews meaningfully decline... they're in for a world of hurt when that happens).

Meh. Didn't really want him in the first place as nobody even knows if he will be effective in the NHL and may have only served to take a spot away from the guys they have been grooming in the AHL.

We have boots on the ground over there with "calgaryboy" and I'm going to take his word for it on Rutta and assume that he doesn't pan out in the NHL.

Would be huuuge shock for me. To be honest, Rutta is no material in my eyes. Happy we stayed away! We have much more serious business ahead of us than this Rutta boy. Go Flames!

Michal Kempny played for a long time over in Czech, went to Chicago, and made their team. Wonder if that had influence over Rutta's decision.
