I’ve heard the number that is on the table is 8 x $7.5m. Where’s this $8.5m talk coming from?

And, you know, he can change his mind, right? That the difference between what transpired last year and this year was significant?

Doesn't matter. The ball is 100 percent in Hanifins court. He stays or he's dealt by the deadline. No chance Conny walks him to UFA. Zero zilch Nada. That of course is an opinion and not a fact, but if one could formulate a fact out of an opinion, it's that.
So we wait for Hanifins situation to close one way or the other. Personally, he'd have signed by now, by all accounts the contract they had on the table was going to he signed until that losing streak, nothings changed, I think he wants to be in the U.S.

No, it’s just how they keep score.

It’s been reported by Pierre LeBrun and David Pagnotta. I believe Steinberg and Friedman have also mentioned it.
Here is the most recent report from Francis about $60 million (8x$7.5m) https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/as-trad...o-make/?sn-amp

Money would only be a motivating factor if the Flames were offering 8 million a year and everywhere else was offering 4 million (or vice versa). Since he is going to get basically the same amount of money wherever he signs I highly doubt it is much a motivating factor. I hope he decides to stay with the Flames because between the d-core and Markstrom/Wolf the Flames have two thirds of what they need to be a contender. Add a few pieces up front and they could turn things around relatively quickly.

I would like to see Hanifin traded, because I like shiny new toys, and want to see the Hamilton trade tree continue to grow. That being said, if he signs an extension with us I won't be disappointed either.

Correct! But I’ve heard Seravalli say very recently that he wants to return to his home country.

Just get it done one way or another. I could support either. What I would hate to see is the Flames having nothing in place and Hanifin go down with a non-significant injury that takes him out for the rest of the season and the Flames get bupkis when he signs elsewhere in the off season.

we all understand how important Tanev is, I personally do not want to see him leave, but he's literally on the clock. If we get a kings ransom then pull that trigger.
Hanifin is just coming into his prime. He's valuable but I believe he needs to stay. I really hope he chooses to sign.
