I'd offer what he was on, but I wouldn't go higher than $1.75/1 year. We need to keep salaries and term down.
Age, roster spots, and term all factor in.

For the right price I definitely bring him back. Smart player, knows how to create offense and should continue to be a good influence on the young guys. Probably 2 to 2.5 million would be where I see him fit at the most.

He really played well all year and in the playoffs. Was worth every penny of his contract for sure. Can he keep it up for another year or two? And at what price?
If we could get him back on the cheap again I'd be all for it. Otherwise I'd like to see them start bringing in some of the younger guys like Hathaway or Klimchuk even.

Absolutely we re sign him, for the right price of course. He was great in the regular season and played very well in the post season. He was a steal this year

Versteeg made over 3M for the last 6 years before he went to Edmonton on a PTO.
He had a much better prove me year than Mason Raymond had.... He will have a lot of teams interested in him for exactly the same reasons the Flames should sign him...
What is reasonable: 2 yr x 3M ? Flames gave Raymond a 3X3 without the track record or intangibles of Versteeg.
Versteeg has taken on a team leadership role as Gio C Monahan A seem to have personalities more suited to be followers.

A one year around 1.5-1.75 with some bonus incentives would be good. Glad that he was healthy for the majority of the year

Yes, if possible for 1 yr, under 2 mil. But I think he will get offered more from another team.

These former Blackhawks are hit or miss:
Miss: Bollig, Brouwer
Hit: Versteeg, Frolik
We are 50/50 on this. So I guess I would re-sign Versteeg, given it is a short term low cap contrast.

i'd definitely be all for resigning Versteeg... i think i said 2 years, 1.5 million in a previous post...
based on recent games, i'd consider bumping that up to 1.75 for 2 years and 1.5 over three...
not too sure what his thought process is, but seems like he likes being close to home at this point in his career and that playing for a team that he and a lot of other southern albertans cheer for is a nice way to wind done your career....

Versteeg was worth every penny of Brouwer's contract this year.
I really don't see a multi-year deal being a good idea for him though.

I'd take him back cheap for a year or two. He played his role well

Solid year from Versteeg, basically rejuvenating his career. He'll have offers. If its his last contract, he's looking for money.

It's pretty hard trying to find a good estimate as to what Versteeg would get. Trying to find other 40pt wingers (Versteeg has scored at a ~42pt pace for the last 4 years) who are PP specialists at his age and there really aren't that many to judge from. Best example might be Stempniak who signed a 2.5Mx2yr deal after putting up a 51 point performance on an 850k 1 yr show me contract at the age of 33.
Versteeg a little younger, put up a little less so around the same number depending on the years is probably the best team friendly deal we could realistically expect to re-sign Versteeg. Now it depends on if there's a team in need of offensive talent willing to go 3x3 or more or Versteeg might try to hold out for that. Looking at the free agent pool, Versteeg might be better off taking any multi year deal above 2M his way when he's got the likes of Oshie, Vrbata, Eaves, Gagner, Williams, Vanek, and PA Parenteau to compete with.

Yes, but no way he will sign for one year or less than $2M.
I realize his age, but he will get interest elsewhere and he's not going to take 50% less to play in Calgary. I predict he'll sign for two years and $2.5M per year if Tre can work it out.
