MAF has waived his NMC for the expansion draft
James Mirtle @mirtle
Marc-Andre Fleury waived his no-movement clause for expansion earlier this season. Must have been hard playing through that all playoffs.
Renaud Lavoie
@renlavoietva
Marc-André Fleury accepted the Penguins request in February to waive his no move clause for the expansion draft. Only for Las Vegas.

Good call by Fleury. Gets his 3rd ring and got to be a part of it this year

"Only for Las Vegas"?
Guess that means no draft and trade?

Vegas could still ask him to waive in a separate move after claiming him, but it seems unlikely at this point that he'd go elsewhere.

Shannon doubts Fleury wants to come here. Sounds like Dallas was his top choice

LeBrun says he still might be traded:
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
This is accurate, however, doesn't mean he still can't be traded elsewhere. Still lots of options on table for Fleury ....

He still has an 18 team trade list.
I'm sure McPhee will do whatever Fleury wants. If he trades him, he'll get a very good return. If he keeps him, Vegas will have solid goaltending from the beginning.

Pens losing him for nothing would be a bad move on their part IMO...they could turn him into an asset

This could easily be Pitts leaking this "Vegas only" to drive up the Flames ask. No other team is likely driving it up to where they want the return to be.

According to McKenzie, Calgary is on Fleury's no trade list.

Cap space and keeping Murray is an asset. Heck, keeping Dumoullin or Schultz might be worth it. Wonder if Pittsburgh had to give up anything for Vegas to take Fleury?

I'm surprised he waived. Getting bought out at 2/3rds and resigning as a UFA seems like it would have been more lucrative for him and would make whoever he signed with more competitive. That's a lot of loyalty to a team getting rid of you.

They are keeping Murray and gaining space either way...I am saying try and move him for something more than they could potentially lose in the expansion draft. I'm sure that option is still on the table

This. He frees up room for them. If anything, hes doing the Penguins a favour.
Worst kept secret in the League, but, and I hate to take the term away from Edmonton, but Pittsburgh is building something special. They got a ton of buy-in from all the players, Fleury's actions even shows that they have players that know they're on the way out who still gave everything.
The atmosphere surrounding that club seems amazing and thats something thats hard to build artificially, it has to be organic and it seems like Fleury was one of the architects of it and hes being asked to leave and hes agreeing and doing it with a lot of professionalism and grace.

He can enjoy playing on a lottery team as he rides out his career.

They have to lose someone.
If it's not Fleury, it's probably Dumoulin. As a result, any return they got for Fleury would have to make it worth their while to lose Dumoulin to even consider it.

If MAF doesn't want to come here over Vegas it just says he doesn't care about winning anymore and is only in it for the paycheck
in that case we don't want him anyway

They flip Fleury to the Flames for a 2nd hypothetically so they are up a 2nd round pick. Now they still lose a player to Vegas let's say Dummolin (so?)
Is Dummolon worth for than the 2nd? To Pitt perhaps so they would rather Vegas take Fleury and keep the rest of their players

I am 100% certain they are exploring those options...also, if Vegas wanted Dumoulin over MAF nothing is stopping them from taking him.
This is far from played out

Assuming Winnipeg is also on his no trade list, it is hard to figure where else he could land. Philly? Either way, I hope the Flames can make a deal with Vegas to pick up a Raanta/Grubauer type.
