Default Canada's favourite NHL

A survey from Sportsnet, it's no surprise that the oldest teams in history have the largest followings.

I must say, the National Hockey League is by far my favourite NHL. My least favourite is probably the Nocturnal Hyena Lobby.

I'm always surprised to see that the Flames aren't more popular in Saskatchewan.

Greasers seem to have greatest following in Sask. Among my family and friends from there anyway. Mainly likely due to local media there giving them more airtime on local news and sports I think.

Plus Saskatchewan is essentially just Edmonton diluted into an entire province.

Kindred spirits.

The Oilers picked up a lot of fans back in the Gretzky era and that stuck. Like it or not, Cups and dynasties are massive building blocks for a fan base especially when city allegiance and geographic demarcation are removed from the equation.

Wasn't Sask once an Isles hotbed, thanks to Bob Bourne and Brian Trottier? Be interesting to know if that legacy continued...

In the 80's it was pretty rare to find a Canucks fan anywhere outside of BC.

Good. I've always liked Saskatoon more anyways.
Simply the better city.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Flames were also among the least hated nationwide.

Hard to say, Oiler fans and Canuck fans hate us and habs fans still hold a grudge about us winning a Stanley Cup in their barn. We've got plenty of haters.

I would imagine that title would go to either the Sens or Jets, as even when they are doing well, they can be somewhat forgettable.

Yeah, this year's Senators playoff run was the least Canadian feeling playoff run I can remember. There was like no buzz or special feeling about it at all.

Having lived in Vancouver for 5 years before 1994 Cup run, it was pretty rare to find a Canuck fan outside Burnaby.

That's not cool
Saskatchewan has it's own identity and is not diluted anything.

I always hated it when eastern Canadians dismissed western Canada as somehow lesser because of a less dense population and that comment felt similar.
