Down Goes Brown‏ @DownGoesBrown
Huh. Yet another NHL team conducts an extensive search and finds the best possible candidates just happen to be popular former star players.

that Kings roster is really only built for that style too, thats gonna be a tough job for a coach, they might need to start rebuilding sooner than later

I saw a few hockey guys say Sutter for Buffalo which I think makes a lot of sense, they have a lot of talent going forward, but they need a lot more discipline. Winnipeg too

I am betting Sutter is done. I think he retires to the farm.

Darryl should sit back and wait until a pre-season Cup contender underachieves and takes them over mid-season next year. Kings are in a really bad spot roster/contract wise, but ultimately tough to say it wasn't worth it for two Cups.

There will be a few teams interested in both of them. Dallas as an example would seem like a team that could use some Sutter crustiness.

LA needs to adjust. I was thinking yesterday that if one goes they'll both end up going. Hopefully Blake and Robitaille are as successful as Sakic.

This looks like a pretty bad move from any angle for the LA Kings.

Fire two top performers and replace them with complete rookies.

Sutter I can understand. He's a great coach but like all coaches their time eventually comes to an end.

Lombardi got hosed though. Guy builds a team that won two cups in three years, why fire him? I'd have kept him for sure.

a little bit surprised... he had a couple of bad seasons? and quick was out for a big chunk of that...

oh well... NHL is a tough gig, but glad Darryl was able to get a couple of cups.

agreed about winnipeg being a good landing spot... lots of talent there

LV will fall all over themselves to grab Sutter, he's a coach that can wring the maximum possible out of what could be a pretty talent poor team.

Vancouver will be in the mix as well.

Because he's the reason they have so many bad contracts and a mediocre prospect pool?

The Lombardi firing caught me by surprise. Expected to see Sutter let go.

L.A. made a lot of short-term-gain for long-term-pain deals (both trades and signings), and they're now going through the long-term-pain part. Hard to say it was bad management, though, when it gets you two Cups in three years.

Doughty, Kopitar, and Quick are young enough to be part of a turnaround. But it won't happen overnight. The Kings are going to get worse before they get better.

They are going to be paying for those two Cups for a long, long time.

He's lucky they won when they did, and lets not forget, this wasn't a regular season juggernaut he built. Lots of times they limped into the playoffs as a lower seed and caught fire at the right time.

... and with that, the likelihood of Jarome Iginla returning for another season with the Kings vanishes.

The Gaborik extension was a disaster the day they signed it.

And just imagine they were close to signing Lucic to a long term deal too.
