Isn’t this the Mike smith model?

Gets hurt near the playoffs, then can’t play next season and retires?

As far as I know, they can buy out as many players as they want. But if they do buy out Kane after this season, he'll still have a $3.5 million cap hit next season (thanks to a signing bonus) with diminishing hits for three years after that.

Maybe they send him to the minors and have another $5/million per player in the AHL.
That would be glorious.

If they bought him out it’d be funny because they will have just gotten rid Neal’s buyout hit.

But it’s more likely they will find an excuse to terminate.

I'm of two minds about that.

On the one hand, if any player can do something that gives his team an excuse to terminate, it's Kane.

On the other hand, the league is just liable to say, ‘You knew that about him when you signed him. Tough luck.’

Yeah but at least they only let it happen the one time. It's not like they have a second pos player whose contract was terminated and allowed back in the league for nefarious reasons. There's no way they would let two scumbags back into the league! Especially not on the very same line...

I don't think they can. He has a full NMC.

With the flames out of the playoffs here is the usual scenario. Cheer for all teams in the East and West that could potentially beat the oilers, even if I mildly dislike them. Once oilers are out - then it goes back to like or dislike. Anybody but the No-Goods.

How do you cheer for 15 teams?

When has the league ever gotten tough on the Oilers like that? The only team they ever penalized over anything lately was Arizona. And that was for breaking combines testing rules.

No no, the Mike Smith model is to play the entire playoff run up to the very last game and then go on LTIR at the start of the next season so they can replace his cap hit on another player. He was fine competing at the highest level right til the end and then magically cant play after having a few months off.

Not shady at all.

He "failed testing" though

But you probably won't be able to pin down any one that saw him even enter the building.

Just saw an ad for ‘Truly Hard Seltzer’ that features oilers fans. I’m sure it’s disgusting cat p*ss swill, but on the oilers association alone Truly=No Good. Boycott.

Probably can go into the series thread…but this is no good. Oilers not selling out playoff games possibly due to kings fatigue. Claiming sellouts just prior to game starts.

Good on the people breaking it up. That city is getting a bad reputation for anything to do with hockey. Nothing wrong with getting twisted out of shape and having a good time. Nothing wrong with a scrap here and there. The problem is like a jacked up truck with white sunglasses. It will always be there. So many bad fans

Anybody else have friends/in-laws that try and convince you to cheer for the oilers because: Canadian team, Albertan team, ‘I’d cheer for the flames’.??
Beat it, E=NG. Some just don’t get it.
