Vasek moves on as he was leading 7-6, 4-2 when Dolgopolov was forced to retire. Next match is going to be tough however as his opponent is top seed Marin Cilic.

Good to see Vasek is not playing doubles at these events either. Finally committing himself to singles may do wonders for his game and overall health.
He's dangerous right now as he has nothing to lose, swinging free.

Darn it, Vasek had a chance to at least force a third and deciding set against Cilic. Marin won the first set 6-3, but Vasek was serving up 5-3 in the second set and promptly lost four consecutive games. Oh well.

Felix is in the Lyon semifinals after beating Casper Ruud, who is a nice young talent and ranked 112. Felix now will enter the top 300 next week. Easily Canada's greatest tennis hope ever, gotta imagine he gets a wildcard into the Montreal main draw.

Felix wins the title with a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Let the (deserved) hype train begin.

Yeah, I don't know much about it either, although he must have had a pretty good 2016 as he started the year ranked 393 and ended it ranked 141. The climb up the rankings has continued in 2017 (he made it to the semi-finals at the ATP stop in Houston in April, so I'm sure he got a boatload of rankings points at that stop).

Canada's next Davis Cup play is going to be in Edmonton at Northlands from September 15 - 17.
Tickets go on sale later this week.
While I'm disappointed it's not in Calgary, I'll probably head up and check out some action since it's so close.

Vasek drops a tough three-setter to Dustin Brown (after not showing up for the first set that he lost 6-1). Last two sets went to tie-breaks that they split.

Better news regarding Denis Shapovalov as he defeated Kyle Edmund at the Queen's Club tourney in London. Set scores were 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-4.
/Edmund is ranked #47 in the world, so a huge win for Denis.

Tough test coming up for him in Berdych, however, he should take solace in knowing he can certainly improve on his serving. If he's able to win another round at this event he will see his ranking rocket up the standing considerably.

Felix has rocketed up to #231 in the rankings after his win in Lyon and is in action this week at the ATP Challenger event in Blois, France.
