Why does it have to be the next day. Did I miss them saying it was the next day. The entire lake frozen solid after breaking. The priest froze to death.

They have heat from a flaming sword and ice to melt for water. They easily could have been standing there 3-4 days.

Sure they didn't show it, and should have, but did it actually say at any point the events were the next day?

They could have done it better. Show the group huddled by the fire, shivering, a couple day and night cycles...or have Bran send a message to Dany via his powers (or better yet warg into a dragon and fly off or something)

Either way, loved the episode, but it felt a little disjointed.

I wonder how the whole thing plays out if the Hound doesn't pull a Peregrin Took and goad the wights into bum rushing their island. when the dragons arrive, the dead army would be all around the perimeter of the lake, and close to the walker generals. then they would have been part of the strafing run and we could have seen once and for all if they are impervious to dragonfire or not.

Here's the one thing I don't get, why does the Night King chuck the spear at one of the flying dragons instead of the one that's just sitting there?

I could be remembering wrong, but wasn't the one he threw the spear at coming right for him, ready to turn him into a Night King Kabob? So, uhmm...self defence?

He wanted a dragon? IDK, that whole plot line was dumb and the execution of the dragon rescue/escape was very poor.

He knew the dragons would eventually come and was using the marooned group to lure Dany and her dragons.

We don't really know how the NK's powers work, but he seemed way to prepared for those dragons.

I think so, off the top of my head. My wife and I were genuinely sad. Everyone else it seemed more shocking I suppose. Even Ned. But I'm sure I'm missing a few key deaths...?

He's in no rush; the brotherhood etc... were surrounded, and his army is dead and has all the time in the world.
Maybe throwing icicles are expensive.
