Icon45 Brian Boyle to Toronto for a 2nd & Froese

Bob McKenzie‏Verified account @TSNBobMcKenzie
TB working to finalize a trade to send Brian Boyle to TOR. No trade call so nothing official yet.

Bob McKenzie‏Verified account @TSNBobMcKenzie
Though nothing official from either TOR or TB yet, assuming it unfolds with no issues, expectation is Boyle will join TOR in SJ.

I was a bit worried Edmonton would get him. So, pretty happy Toronto nicked him.

Tampa Bay Lightning @TBLightning
We have acquired Byron Froese and a 2017 second-round pick from the @MapleLeafs in exchange for Brian Boyle.

Now he's Brianne Boyle of the Laughs.

But actually, decent cost. Helps the Leafs more than most teams. They are so damn young.

Glad neither the Oilers or Flames made a move for Boyle. Wouldn't want to give up a 2nd for 3rd-4th liner but also didn't want the Oil to add more size to their group.

Good deal for the Leafs. They can use some more veteran leadership and Boyle would probably provide more size to their young team.

Is he proven though. In TB 42 playoff games with 7 points. Do you mean playoff experience? Then I would agree since he has gone deep for the last number of years.

Pretty good deal for the Leafs. A 25 year old minor leaguer and a 2nd for a guy that can really help them.

Craig Custance @CraigCustance
The 2017 draft pick in Boyle deal will be the highest second-round choice between Toronto's or previously acquired picks from SJ or Ott.

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
No salary retained in Boyle to Toronto trade

terrific deal for the Leafs. They could do with some leadership and experience and Boyle has that in spades. With their prospect pool they could afford to trade a 2nd too. Glad he didn't end up in the West.

Mostly the experience. He seems to be a guy that won't put up the numbers, but could be instrumental in a long playoff run. Kind of like a Kyle Clifford or Jordan Nolan

So odd that the Leafs are buyers at this stage of the rebuild.

Not a bad deal for the Leafs but at the same time I really don't think they should be trading away picks for rentals at this stage. But what do I know?

That's a pretty good pick (assuming "highest of the three" means better of the three).

hehehehe

Jim Matheson @NHLbyMatty
So not having 2nd round draft pick killed Oilers hopes of getting Boyle. Chiarelli should be mad. That pick goes to Bos for signing him
