No idea. It's common for guys to portion Wideman on the bench? Maybe I'm getting old and just don't know the hip slang these days?

My guess:

Come on guys. Considering the flames position, Wideman is not a liability. He sits on the bench!

Ahhh...it's the "common" that had me baffled...and that Wideman sits on the bench, but he meant in the press box.

Wideman's been behind the bench filling water bottles and cleaning visors, haven't you been watching the past 4 games?

I fully expect for Tre to do no more moves, however if he somehow moves Wideman for a pick/prospect I'll be happy.

I might be an (over) optimist but I really think with the traditional high value of defense men at the trade deadline, my faith in Tre and the how bad the draft is.. I think he can pull a 2nd for Wideman if he can sell him as a PP specialist for a contending team.

Or I could be waaaaaay off..

So who's in our lineup then...?

I can see Kevin moved for sure. Maybe...On a wing and a prayer Wideman goes. And Bouma should be replaced.

I think you keep Bouma for the playoffs. Players like him come to be counted on in the post-season.

I would trade him in the off-season (and hopefully he has a good playoffs to increase his value).

I like to have defensive depth - and the Flames finally have it - but I would make room for the overages. If that means Wideman, or Jokipakka, or whatever, you do it if possible.

Treliving has done a good job of shoring up some weaknesses we had on defence. Best part is we didn't have to give up much.

Going forward I wouldn't be too dissapointed if we did nothing at the deadline. I like the makeup of this team now and how we are playing. I have full confidence that this group will get us a playoff spot.

Jokipakka/Wideman value returns would be welcomed, even if minimal.

I'm not going to bank on Ferland suddenly being consistent, though, as much as I've liked him. I think a move for a top 9 RW that can score goals and play with skill guys (JG/SM) would be satisfying what I anticipate to be a resurfacing need in the next several weeks.

And honestly, if you can get a surefire upgrade in net because of the looming expansion, then you can't turn that down. Yes, Elliott is playing some good hockey now, but there are still better options than him and Johnson that exist out there. I am content riding out the season with these guys, though. They've been at the very least adequate since late november, and appear to be improving in technique and consistency.

Agreed on Bouma. The only way I would move Bouma right now is if we need him to go back the other way to even out salaries. Otherwise, let him keep playing as he has looked good lately and a strong playoffs would make him much easier to move in the off-season.

I also agree on Wideman being moved because of possible bonus overages, even though it would only help a little. Moving Jokipakka doesn't help in that regard much though as shipping him out by now wouldn't be enough to get us out of LTIR. I also like the idea of holding onto Jokipakka because I still think he has potential, let him come back next year and compete for a spot.

One injury can throw a wrench into things. Wideman is good insurance policy in the pressbox as is kevin

Right now the flames top 9F, top 4D and goaltending is all performing well. I dont see a need to tinker those spots unless its a legit longterm upgrade.

If there was ever a team Shane Doan would except a trade to its probably the Flames. Very familiar with the management and it looks like a shot at the playoffs.

Interesting to see if him and Benett would click on the 3rd line.
