But Monahan sucks, trade him while his value is high!

So fortunate we got him at 6.

I don't think this was your point at all, and I agree with you, we were lucky to get him at 6. But it also makes made me think about how we react to things on here.
Monahan, leading his draft class = Flames lucky to get him as low as 6.
IF the scenario was Monahan, getting out performed by players drafted below him that would likely mean the following around here = Flames suck at developing players.
I think we should also acknowledge we got lucky with him being at 6 and turning out to be who he is, but we should also pat the organization on the back for handling his development well also, even if he did make that easy for them.

Monahan should go to RW. He's becoming sniper with no playmaking skills that are crucial for 1st line center.

You have to remember, though, that Ovechkin didn't even get to play in what should have been his rookie year because of the lockout. If he had, he'd probably be somewhere in Crosby territory.

I wonder where he stands on the list of players who did it in the least amount of games. Guys like Selanne, Bossy, Nieuwendyk, Lemieux, etc. would all surpass him, but I wonder how many players did it in less games.
I tried to look but couldn't easily find any sort of list. Anybody with more desire to do the research than me?

Thats remarkable when you think about it.

Funny, I don't see Barkov on that list for all those saying Barkov is the better of the two.

Monahan > Malkin by this logic.

This is a pretty cool montage on the Flames Twitter feed. A review of all 100 of Mony's goals put to the Hip tune of Ahead By A Century!
https://twitter.com/nhlflames/status/835542388286210048
It amazes me of how about 2/3rds of Mony's goals are within 1-2 ft of the crease. The guy has unbelievable hands in tight.

I think for many people if a guy doesn't have Crosby stats, he's "a 3rd line C at best"
It's annoying how much flak the lad has taken on CP but he's done nothing but improve and develop areas of his game. It's like CP has collective Asian dad meme syndrome.

Wow I don't think one non empty net goal was from further than 10 feet away.

And we should've moved Iggy to centre when he was 28 because he was good at faceoffs.

As much as I love Monahan, Barkov is a stud. He's had injury issues and had to adjust to the North American game, but over his last 82 games now he has 73 points. He's not the greatest face-off guy, but he's elite.
I think there's a far better case to argue that Monahan is superior to MacKinnon though.
