Default Places to host a birthday

My wife's 40th is in June and i'm looking for a place that can host approx 80 people. I'm looking for a place that will be "private" that serves food/drinks and i can hire a band to play and she/we can dance. There will be "older" people like grandparents etc attending that's why i'm not looking for a bar type place. I have thought of Wine-ohs basement wine room but does anyone recommend anything else? Thanks

I have no idea the costs, but I would suggest the Calgary Rugby Union.

The view from the deck is great. There is a bar and kitchen, so it is turn key.

Community Hall. Get your own liquor license and hire a caterer. You can get a band and a bartender and you're all set.

I saw a wedding reception rent out the top floor of the Palomino once.

Our one-of-a-kind outdoor patio, basement showroom and main floor restaurant will help to create a special event you won’t soon forget

Depends how much you want to spend. On the high side, rent a restaurant out for $10K-$20K. On the low side, rent a community hall out and get a liquor license and caterer.

My wife's 40th is around the same time. I was just going to invite a bunch of friends to come over for some booze and snacks, but maybe we'll just raid your party. Let me know where you end up.

Silver Springs Golf Club should be ideal for a mixed crowd.

What about a hospital? I hear that they are very good at delivering such events.

It's worse when you realize that each of those cars in the parking lot holds 30 clowns.

The wine room in the basement of the Calgary Petroleum Club. Excellent venue.

This. It's not that expensive and pretty easy. Liquor license is cheap, just pick it up when you buy booze. Hire a caterer or even just bring a couple of BBQ's and have family/friends do the food, depends on how fancy you want to get. Don't forget to arrange for a cleaner the next morning if you are going to be imbibing.
