What else are they going to do? Basically at their budget and the plan is to platoon him with Upton.

Agreed but unless something changes Upton will get the majority of the time not him

I hope not. I'm hoping Gurriel or Alford have a strong enough camp they force the Jays hand on that. Don't think Alford is ready by we'll have to wait and see on Gurriel.

Have you seen his slashlines against right-handed pitchers? Hint: Really bad. He hit's lefties pretty good but lefties aren't the majority of pitchers. They're probably gonna run a platoon and lefty Zeke will get those plate appearances (Which isn't good because Zeke is just a poor hitter in general). My hope is that Angel Pagan will get anxious about not having a contract pretty soon and the Jays grab him relatively inexpensively. Then we can stash Zeke with the Bisons for an emergency.

Donaldson has injured his calf again and has been taken for an MRI.

Same calf as last season, but let's hope not the same injury or at least not related.

Sounds like a couple weeks off his leg is the advice.

In his interview today he mentioned it wasn't the same calf which could be good news. Hopefully a couple weeks off will help it.

Encarnacion: Blue Jays were ‘too hasty’ with free agent decision

“Toronto was always my first option, but I had never been a free agent, and anybody who gets to free agency wants to find out what’s out there,” Encarnacion told Jorge L. Ortiz of USA Today Sports. “I think they got too hasty in making their decision, but now I’m with Cleveland and I’m happy to be here.”

Gee Edwin, if the team wanted to sign you and they offered you a contract right away but you decided to play hardball. They had to fill the hole left from you.

“I didn’t know free agency was going to be so challenging,” said Encarnacion, who relied on his then-girlfriend and now fiancée for support. “There were times when I wasn’t drawing the interest I thought I would, and it got me down. She would support me and tell me not to worry, that it’s in God’s hands and He knows where to lead you. [It] helped because as much as you try to avoid it, you get worked up about these things."

What a cluster that whole EE situation was. I am slowly coming to terms with it but still I think both parties handled it somewhat badly.

EE declining the big offer from the Jays, not willing to negotiate during the season was a strange one, and his agent really mis judging the market on free agent sluggers, was all bad. (hindsight 20/20 I know but his agent needs to be able to read a market and he did not).

Blue Jays going hard after Morales so quick was a mistake. While I understand it EE was still a free agent when they signed Morales and in my mind EE is still the better option.

Thank god the Jays re-signed Joey.

Although the Jays kick off the Spring Training Schedule on Saturday, the first televised game in Sunday against Philadelphia. Hopefully we get to see some guys like Gurriel and Alford.

SI released their power rankings for this season. Jays are at 12 which i think is fair, but I don't know if i would have the Rangers and Mariners ahead of them yet.

Rangers maybe, but Houston and Mariners. Give me a break. They've proven nothing and haven't lived up to the hype.

Mariners are my second favourite team, but they never live up to expectations, and i'm not sure why they continue to have such high expectations given the constant let downs.

I agree about the Mariners but the Astros are legit. I mean look at this depth chart...

... That is a highly potent roster.

The only way to enjoy cactus or grapefruit league is by drinking beer and eating hot dogs in the sun while attending the games in person. If it's about the game then it's certainly a chore to watch.
