See, now that sounds awesome. No golf course, stuffy convention centre or casino in the project.

Only recent developments have caused my impression that all development is evil!
P.S. Isn't there ALREADY something (only an hour away that would satisfy everyone's needs! It's called the Enchanted Forest and it's already caused enough nature-raping for me!

The Enchanted Forest has raped more than nature...you can see it in their beady little eyes...

Ba ha ha. It looks like a SimCity version of an alpine paradise. I wonder what the budget is for that Gothic cathedral.

I have no idea how they figure Canmore will ever justify a development like that. That thing looks bigger than the community of Lake Louise itself.
EDIT: Just realised I've repeat myself.

I took a tour there in the fall when they had an open house...ummm...plant day. It was cool so see. I also know what's inside the big new ecodome now too. Pulverized limestone to feed the kiln. Due to the wind the dome keep the dust down and makes for cool alien light shafts.

Hey Fuzz, Danielle Smith came down from her high after hugging Dion yesterday, and interviewed both sides of the Canmore development debate this morning at 10. I was doing something loud, so I didn't hear it, but if you're interested, go to the QR77 site and go to the audio vault.
Not sure exactly what time it started. I heard about 3 minutes of it around 1015, and then a bit more at 1035. It was two different people. One was a development guy, and the other was an enviro protection woman.

Listening to it now, nice of the developer to leave out the part where the previous developer went bankrupt and left the disaster behind. Also nice spin on "cleaning up a brownfield site". I've spent years hiking and biking there, yes there are a few bits of rusted out machinery here and there, but it's not like its an old creosote site. The biggest disturbance, by far, was the burying of the high voltage lines because the previous developer thought it would be bad for sales. The whole area is a scar on the land, but not from the mines.
It's a problem for Canmroe becuase the province approved the development initially then plopped the costs on the town. Adding thousands of people puts all sorts of stresses on local services, I can see why council said no.
To clarify, this is discussing the other side of the valley, not the stupid gondola project.
