Nobody is talking about Bollig..
Is this guy finito? Haven't heard hardly anything about him in camp, has he even played in the preseason yet?
Do we think he is going to get sent down this year despite what Burke said?
My personal preference is that he ISN'T in the opening day lineup.

I don't think the owners are interested in paying Raymond & Bollig to NOT play for the Flames. You can waive him and he won't get claimed, and then you are paying his NHL salary while he's playing for Stockton.

He played in the home game on Monday, I believe.
I see no chance that he is waived and sent to Stockton. He's as good of press box filler as anybody else, and they're not going to sit a waiver-exempt player who could be playing big minutes in Stockton.
Plus intangibles yadda yadda.

I suspect he will play against the Oilers and their goon squad opening night

They took the hit for Raymond and he was paid significantly more than Bollig. I think he is due 1.3M this year.

They still save some money if he gets sent down.
Send a guy like Bollig down but keep Hamilton up and they save $300k I think.

They would save against the cap but not real money.
I wouldn't be surprised if he gets waived, goes unclaimed and stays with the big club.

So he has that going for him. Sounds like he's committed to being here. You need vets like that.

He'll be the 13th/14th forward and slip into the lineup when the other team has a tough guy or when there are last minute injuries/illness. He's a solid team guy with a really good attitude, that is important to have in a guy who could sit 2/3 of the season in the pressbox.

Other than a pulse, he offers nothing to the team.

I really like Bollig, I think he brings a bit of steel to this team and as long as we can fit people under the cap we need players like him.
This team sorely needs some grit and the two big guys we have to bring it are Bollig and Engelland and they're often not available.
We've got all this talent, but I dont think anyone can dispute that last season we were easy to play against.

Will be happy when this guy isn't a Flame next year and his cap hit goes to better use. Glad he's in shape though.

The only thing that makes Bollig truculent is the fact he drives a F-150. Waste of a roster spot.

I don't think he brings this often enough to be effective. He's fine for sitting in the press box - last year with all the injuries though he ended up playing 54 games - way too many. I'm sure there are guys in the organization that would really benefit from that kind of playing time. I'd rather he be in Stockton for the majority of the year.

Should we change the title of this thread now, all things considered?
Edit: Maybe to something like "Some people are talking about Bollig" or "A dedicated few decided to talk about Bollig"

He rarely uses his truculent big body. He usually misses whoever he tries to hit and is slow getting back into the play. He needs to show more to me this year than he has since he got here. He isn't the same with the Flames as he was with Chicago.
