^ yeah if they have to have a shoulder patch, I would also say the horsehead is the best option
not a fan of this logo either, but it does look 100x better than the flags on the shoulders.

Given the ads on the world cup jerseys I'm going to bet we don't see team shoulder patches much longer.

Gary Bettman said he's never going to put advertisements on an NHL sweater, only for international events etc.

Five years ago? He's gone from saying 'there won't be ads on jerseys', to 'you might see ads but we'll be kicking and screaming the whole way before that happens', to 'we've had a lot of interest, but it's nothing we've got on the front burner', to having them on the WC jerseys.
He may have said that but I recall an article where he also said there'd never be a team in Vegas. Money talks, and there's virtually nobody in life whom I'd take at face value saying something is never going to happen. Especially from a business standpoint.

Yep, there's always the uncertainty from Bettman. Anyways, this is what he said on August 17th 2016.
Dan Rosen @drosennhl:
Bettman re. advertising not coming to NHL sweaters: "I am a believer in the history, tradition and exactly how special NHL sweaters are."

A week later:

"I've always said, you're going to have to drag us kicking and screaming," he added. "We won't be first. Obviously the NBA went first. And it would take a huge incentive for us to even consider it."

That's not a hard 'no'. That's basically a 'show me the money'. Agree to disagree I guess. Given what they tested at world cup I suspect we see logos there within a decade before we see them on the fronts like the CFL.

Those world cup style virtual ads would be way better than any jersey ads

Jersey ads are dumb and the NBA is an embarrassment of a professional sports league to begin with. Following their example would be unwise.

Authentic game weight jerseys haven't been worth buying since the CCM/Koho/Starter/Pro Player days. Reebok destroyed hockey jerseys.

I'd like to invite all of those (like myself) who have been championing the return of the retros to put your money where your mouth is and cop one of these things this season. For two reasons:
a) It will send a message that these are the jerseys that the people want. If sales are strong enough, maybe the retros will become the primaries. Of course, the more likely scenario,
b) Ken King will finally redesign the primaries and we will be left with a clusterfata of a mess like those nauseating western thirds mixed with the flaming snot horse head mixed with the pedestal plus heritage classic with extra black to really make it pop! Get these retros while you can, because history suggests that your option in the future ain't gonna be pretty.

I'll be buying one, for sure. Only retro in the house is my wife's Gaudreau. If they extend him I think I'll get a Elliott

Sorry, Dan.

I bought the game worn Dougie Hamilton from last season. Getting it autographed. I love it!

Sweet pickup! How much for it, being game worn?

Yeah the horse fit perfectly as a shoulder patch on the 04's. I love the retros as well, with the only shoulder patch that mattered (1989 cup win)!
