I was so hoping someone was going to throw their Oilers jersey onto the ice at the end there, for old times sake.

8 wins in 24 games or something like that. The jersey canon's are loaded and the arms are cocked.
A few more losses and
We will laugh out loud
When the jersey's hit the ice.

Hopefully they start throwing those 3rd orange jerseys. There should be more of those in the landfills.

Isn't that the truth? Edmonton behaves as if they built something revolutionary or iconic. With regards to their team they think and speak as a group who believes that the Oilers are already an all-time great team comprised of HOF players in wait.
Detroit will open their new arena district next fall. I guarantee that it will be just as spectacular as the new tin can up North, and there will be no perpetual fawning all over themselves for it.

Hyperbole all the way with the "100 days retrospective - lifetimes of memories". lifetimes of mayflies perhaps...
funnily enough, the information about the greasers in the article sits firmly at the bottom.

In fairness, half of this board is throwing themselves overboard because we haven't build what they built up there in our city yet, so it's not just them.

I don't see an apt comparison here. Yes, fans are impatient about the timeline of a new arena, but that is a far cry from the never ending self congratulations that Edmonton is promoting.
To be fair, Oilers fans are pompous and ridiculous, and Edmonton is no good.

I was in the new rink last night and it was great to watch Columbus win! The rink is nice but there are so many bottleneck areas creating lines. To get to the upper level, you need to take one of two escalators. Picture the lineup when you have 8000 people trying to get on the escalator. Bathroom lineups are long. Attempting to leave was worse...the two escalators were jam packed and it was slow moving. The atmosphere was so quiet. The old building was raucous while this rink seems like a vacuum.
