"The incident? It wasn't that much," Grabovski told Chesnokov. "(Pacioretty) was choking me and I bit him. Don't stick your hands where you shouldn't. To be honest with you he was choking me pretty hard, to the point where I really couldn't breathe. And I couldn't pull his hand away at all. I tried to hit him with my other hand, but I couldn't because he was choking me. There was nothing left to do but bite him."

It doesn't look like he got choked to me. Maybe the hand over the mouth and nose but his arm was never around his throat. Still, not a good way to face wash.

Looks like the hand/wrist is thoroughly covering the player's mouth and nose, and pressure is being applied. I don't know if his English is strong, but "choking" and "suffocating" may mean the same thing to Grabovski. If he couldn't breathe, why not bite the hand that offends?
Both guys are idiots, but Grabovski's right. A typical facewash is face to face. Pacioretty covered his nose and mouth from behind. It probably came as a total surprise and he panicked. Pacioretty's more at fault here. Don't do something stupid and play the victim.
I've got more of a problem with the fact that Grabovski lied about it in the discipline hearing (phone call) after the incident and denied biting at all.
I think next time he faces Shanahan and the committee they won't be lenient on him.
