I saw a Vice episode a couple of years ago, where people in Texas still pray, believing God will stop the droughts that are killing their crops and livestock.
science is fake news.
The arrogance of these people...thinking that they can convince God to alter his plan.
Yeah the methane release in the permafrost and oceans is going to speed up warming drastically if we don't find a way to start engineering our climate and managing it sooner than later.
Being in Iceland, over the years we've had a lot of guest speakers who are coming via Iceland to study in Greenland, its been fascinating and quite disturbing to see what they have to say about the speeding up for Greenland's ice sheet.
Well we are at a very early point at all the various studies being done specifically on the melting of permafrost and methane release, a lot of them are in Russia and there is a lot to be concerned about.
Its hard to collect this data as it hasn't been the focus the last few decades, we figured there was more time before the permafrost thaw became an issue, the areas people have to go to study this are not exactly ones many researches are eager to go spend time and set up equipment, minus those damn hardy Russians they have been doing an outstanding job.
Ya, but it worked because they got totally flooded after all that praying. They just prayed a little to hard. They took it to 11, where they should have aimed for around an 8.
If they hit a 15 it would have caused a 40 day flooding of the entire earths surface.
The arrogance of these people...thinking that they can convince God to alter his plan.
There is an old saying that states god helps those that help themselves. I don't understand why religious people don't realize that "god" (if you believe in god) has given man science and the ability to use scientific reasoning to start solving the problems we created.

How do you feel about this, considering the future for Texas in a warmer planet is pretty bleak.
Im very happy that Trump is actually sticking to his campaign promises. The EPA is a joke. Carbon tax is an insane liberal idea. I feel sorry for all my Calgary friends that are getting taxed based on something that is a basic element of life. Whats next the "Matter Tax"?

At least coal miners will have polluted streams etc. like if he did bring back jobs.
And it likely won't bring back those coal mining jobs.
"The reality is that the demand for coal has been decreasing for a while and it’s going to continue to decrease,” Sheldon Stone, a partner and head of restructuring at the investment banking firm Amherst Partners, LLC, said in an interview. “Even by doing this you are not going to be bringing mining jobs back.”
Patrick Hickey, a political science professor at West Virginia University, says coal shares the same kind of nostalgia as manufacturing, tied to the belief of some voters that their lives were much better economically 20 to 30 years ago. "It becomes a powerful political rhetorical appeal to hearken back," he said, "because even if you’re not directly connected to the industry, you may know family members or relatives or ancestors who were."

I wonder if presidents from the early 1900s ever had political pressure to save the horse and buggy industry and where we would be today if they bent over to those desires.

???
Do you think that people are actually referring to the chemical element carbon?
Trump will not throw out the first pitch for the Nationals. I suppose he's scared to look bad. I'm not a big baseball guy but isn't this one of those things like the press correspondents dinner that everyone usually does? I do like that he was "in talks" to do it as if throwing a single ceremonial baseball is some bigwig negotiation.
