The U.S. is prepared to launch a preemptive strike with conventional weapons against North Korea should officials become convinced that North Korea is about to follow through with a nuclear weapons test, multiple senior U.S. intelligence officials told NBC News.
North Korea has warned that a "big event" is near, and U.S. officials say signs point to a nuclear test that could come as early as this weekend.
The intelligence officials told NBC News that the U.S. has positioned two destroyers capable of shooting Tomahawk cruise missiles in the region, one just 300 miles from the North Korean nuclear test site.
American heavy bombers are also positioned in Guam to attack North Korea should it be necessary, and earlier this week, the Pentagon announced that the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier strike group was being diverted to the area.
The danger of such an attack by the U.S. is that it could provoke the volatile and unpredictable North Korean regime to launch its own blistering attack on its southern neighbor.

Well, given the unpredictable bellicosity of the regime, such a clash was pretty much inevitable.

Maybe it's just me, but this seems like a prelude that Wikileaks is about to drop some stuff on the GOP/Trump.
Quote:
CIA Director Mike Pompeo launched a broadside Thursday against the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks, calling it a “non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted” by hostile countries like Russia.
"WikiLeaks walks like a hostile intelligence service, and talks like a hostile intelligence service,” Pompeo said at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in his first public remarks since becoming CIA chief.
Pompeo also pointed to U.S. intelligence officials’ conclusion that WikiLeaks had served as a middleman for Russian intelligence services when it published thousands of pilfered Democratic Party emails during the heart of the presidential contest. He didn’t mention that the same assessment determined that Russia’s efforts evolved into an influence campaign aimed at helping Donald Trump defeat Hillary Clinton.
“In January of this year, our intelligence community determined that Russian military intelligence — the GRU — had used WikiLeaks to release data of U.S. victims that the GRU had obtained through cyber operations against the Democratic National Committee,” the former Kansas Republican congressman said Thursday.
WikiLeaks quickly jabbed back on Twitter, noting that Pompeo had used his congressional Twitter account last summer to link to a conservative blog post praising the group’s release of hacked DNC emails. That account has since been deleted.

How long until a terrorist attacks a Trump property? I understand it wouldn't hit the average American as hard but it sure would antagonize Trump. I don't think his ego could handle it.

You talking about the North Koreans or the Trump administration? It's so hard to tell the difference these days.

I don't think charges of treason will help Putin find willing Americans in the future, especially if Putin intentionally leaks information. I imagine it won't help him maintain whatever ring he has established in the US, either.
The whole North Korea/"lets drop a big conventional bomb in Afghanistan" is all a ploy to raise approval ratings and try to instill fear in Syria and North Korea.
You can tell might work based on how many people believe that Trump would be willing to preemptively attack North Korea.

Putin might be happy with what he's done and may not be worried about finding willing Americans in the future. He's facilitated a surge of refugees into Europe and then supported right wing candidates piggybacking that resulting in a weakening of the EU, he's retaken Crimea, he's supported a civil war in the Ukraine basically bringing an end to their move to NATO, he's shaken faith in the American electoral system.
His goal wasn't likely a Manchurian candidate, he just thought that it might end up being a bonus result because Trump is just so dumb.

Yes you are right. Trump campaigned that he would sit on his hands and do nothing while Isis killed innocent women and children. Oh wait, that's what Obama did for the past 8 years.

Dropping 12,000 bombs in 5 years is doing nothing? Unless you're advocating putting troops on the ground which would be insanity.
Trump saying he would defeat ISIS and quickly is just another example of how out if touch with reality he is. How long until we hear 'who knew defeating ISIS would be so complicated?' from him?

I like how TFF apparently knows enough about the carbon tax that has been around for 4 months all the way from Texas. But wait, he went to SAIT once. So he's hip to everything going on in Canada.
Sad!
