I hope they take Brouwer and it makes sense for them to do so....
But I wouldn't be surprised if they signed Engelland instead.

In the end of the day, I doubt that losing any of these unprotected players will really be a dagger to the team. Don't forget that every other team is also taking some a hit, and many of them will pay dearly.

Looking at the list, I expect the knights to take a prospect or maybe Chiasson for a more sure thing.
It seems to me that regardless of the outcome of the expansion draft, it will be a competitive win for the Flames, since we aren't losing anything significant and other teams will be.

I really don't think Kulak is gone.
Because most teams can only protect 3 defencemen, the defencemen available for Vegas are going to be much better than the forwards. Kulak isn't nearly valued enough league wide to be taken over them.
I really think Stajan has already packed his bags.

It is too hard to say who they will select without seeing who is exposed from other teams. The Knights still need to reach the cap floor, and Brouwer is not a bad player to help them get there.

I don't think the cap floor is a concern for LV. However I think the point someone made that Lv will be taking on a lot of one year contracts and Brouwer would be one less to negotiate is a good one.

Sure. But again, without seeing the other teams' lists we simply don't know much. Given that Brouwer is arguably the Flames best player available, I think there remains a very good chance he is selected.

I wouldn't be shocked if LV signs Engelland after July 1. He lives there in the off season. I just hope we don't lose Stone in UFA. My guess based on who the Flames left unprotected. Brouwer, Stajan, or Kulak gets picked. As a GM it would not be wise to waste a pick on any UFA off any team.
