If you want to take potshots at CGY for Smith, do it for his age. Harping on unadjusted Sv% won't get that argument where you want it to go.

Good deal, keep our first now and draft a solid prospect and get to have a stop gap goalie for 2 years until Gillies/Parsons hopefully take over. Losing Hickey sucks but obviously he wasn't gonna sign here.

Ugh.

Retaining 25% helps a bit but losing Hickey sucks, though I have little doubt its because Treliving figured he couldnt get him signed here.

All in all though there isnt a huge price being paid here so i guess its an OK deal....and can get better depending on Smiths performance.

I really liked Hickey...didn't realize he wasn't going to sign. But in that case we basically gave up nothing for Smith. Nothing is good.

They can't expose a pending UFA in Johnson, but they can protect him.

Must be confident Domingue won't be taken by Vegas, which seems reasonable.

Was really hoping for Grubauer or Raanta but the acquisition cost for Smith is extremely palatable. Dude was selected for the Olympics 3 years ago. If we can get that Smith behind our D this could be good.
