I don't love or hate them but I don't see this as some grand slap in the face to a fan base. It's a patch.

But the common fan won't care if they change the jerseys to appease us either.

And King said they spent a lot of time with focus groups on the design of our previous third jersey, and look how badly they messed that up.

Going retro would actually save time and money, and it's foolproof.

The people who are designing these do not care how they look, it is all about money (like most things). Obviously people in Alberta are going to purchase them regardless because people are more passionate about the team, whereas in places like Florida they are forced to make a clean jersey to appease the little fans they have.

I'm curious how the Replica uniforms will look like.

Notice how we aren’t privy to what the back of the neck looks like, which is where you’ll find a giant Adidas logo on the authentic jerseys, if the World Cup of Hockey sweaters were any indication. Which means one assumes that’s where you’ll find more Fanatics branding.

Are the jerseys going to look like the ones we see on the ice? Brandon Williams of Fanatics tells us, “The new replicas will look similar to the on-ice versions, however the changes/enhancements have more to do with the feel and wearability of the fan jersey.”

Look, maybe you care about this stuff, maybe you don’t, but we’ve already heard from some fans that are a little bummed the replica jerseys are being made by an entirely different company. And we can sympathize with that: You’re paying $170 to look like the guys on the ice, and you have a flapping Fanatics flag rather than the iconic Adidas logo on the sweater.

Yeah they are getting blasted all over social media.

In the end I guess this means that I will just wait until the end of season jersey sales to add them to my collection instead of pre-ordering them like I would have if they were actually different.

If they wanted to stick with Flags I would have been fine with going with the Calgary Flag and the canadian Flag.

I feel if they went to the retros this year, and brought out the current style next year as a third, they would be leaving a lot of money on the table. Many have said they want the flags and piping removed. Many will buy if this is the case. The third jerseys are to generate income. Having retros will maximize revenue, in my opinion.

I like the retros better. I'll probably buy a retro next year, but will also likely buy the current version this year. This is dependent on the jersey looking decent (to me), and being free of sponsor advertisements.

Do you still feel they have thought this through?
