Where was this fight against the Flames after the Tkachuk elbow?
It would have been kinda cool seeing Iggy fight a Flame! Maybe Gio?
Iggy and Gio were set to fight when he was an Av, and the dumbass linesmen broke it up before they started.
Looking back, I wonder now if the linesmen saw who it was, and they tried to "protect" Iggy's legacy by breaking up the fight? Stupid move by them, no matter the motive.
Besides winning, very few things are better than two willing veteran combatants going toe to toe in the heat of battle.

You really got to think it's a good thing Gio didn't fight Iggy.
I may be in that area for work soon, how boring is the town ?
If you blink long enough you can drive right through it. Not a heck of a lot there that's for sure.
I'll admit to missing Iggy. That smile during interviews and he can still bring it on the ice, not quite like he use to but he's still playing with passion.
I also have no issue with Maroon. Honestly think it's one of the best pickups The Oilers have done in a long while. I'd take him over a few players on The Flames in a heartbeat.

Iggy still got it.... Wish he and the Flames could have worked something out this trade deadline. Cant help but think he could have been the "Lanny" factor in 2017

Except older than Lanny, playing more games with less points than Lanny, and I doubt we'd bring him in to sit 1/3 of the PO games.

Iginla is a better overall player than Lanny was, even at age 40. Bringing him in at the TDL would not have been a detriment to the club at all. The Lanny effect would have been real with him in the lineup in a limited role.
Annnnd it's quite obvious Iggy is not afraid to drop the mitts to try to get the team going. A bonus.
I see no issue with bringing in a power play trigger man who can drop the mitts. It's basically what the Caps did with Shattenkirk. He plays 3rd pairing, but is on the number 1 PP unit.
how is a Maroon a bitch? He plays good hockey, goes to the tough areas and doesn't mind taking a beating to get a goal. And he gave Iginla respect by accepting the fight. He's one of your best players and he's pretty tough.
Just the way he has acted in some of his fights. He's pulled some Stortini stuff in some of his fights. I don't think he really likes fighting.
He fights pretty much anyone but he doesn't seem to have that mean streak unlike an Iginla or Lucic.
I guess you have to give him credit for fighting pretty much anyone, but he has had a few embarrassing moments doing it.

I never much liked Maroon in Anaheim, picked his spots often. For such a big guy he acted like a tough guy but usually avoided having to actually fight anyone tough.
Agreed on the Stortini stuff.
This year though, I have found Maroon to be a much more forceful player, willing to drop the gloves and even not just hold on against some pretty tough guys. And the goal scoring...curses.
He seems to behaving a great time on the ice, I should not dislike him for his passion.
Love Iginla, what a warrior. I would have loved to see him picked up by the Flames, even just to play 4th line with Stajan and Bouma.
When was the last time someone his age fought in a game!~
This was a beat down, and another ex-Flame. 41 years old, and went full old-man beast mode. The best analogy of this one was "Roberts didn't just fight Eager, he taught him a lesson."
I remember hearing someone say when Laraque was chirping in the box him he was saying "You can't fight, you just got beat up by an old man!"

Yeah, that was annoying. Couple linesmen also broke up a fight between Phaneuf and Iginla too at one point. Both Iggy-Gio and Iggy-Phaneuf would have been great tilts, just for the storylines.
This is my favourite Iginla fight though, hands done. Iginla vs Guerin in 2002.
It's got several patented Iggy switcharoo left-rights and some grinding body shots that you just don't see in hockey fights ever to end it. Billy must have been peeing a little blood the next day after that. Dislocated his finger in this bout that hampered him all season long but man was it a beauty.
