What is the point of still having it? It makes no sense.
Well, there are two different issues:
Should the world still have Daylight Saving Time in general?
Should Alberta be like Saskatchewan and Arizona and not go on DST; or should Alberta remain in sync with the rest of North America?
The first question is a valid discussion to have on a wide scale. The answer to the second question is obviously, no we should not be like Saskatchewan.

So essentially the arena location has been terrible for the past 15 years but nobody mentioned it during the Moyes bankruptcy hearings? Bettman you are a fool.
Was this Bettman's way of bringing up relocation without actually using the word?

Although, if Alberta decides to get rid of daylight saving time, for at least a few months of the year (and playoffs) we could potentially be two hours away from the Pacific teams depending which time zone they go with (MST or CST).
On another note, if they go the other way and it's MST, how much would it suck to have eastern games (and Blue Jays games) start at 4?
Having eastern NHL games, Blue Jays, and Raptors etc. start at 4:00 doesn't suck at all. Here in BC, the vast majority like it that way. The same goes for Wash, other PTZ states, and Arizona.
Though if the NDP follows through on the idiotic proposal to breakaway from the rest of the country (that matters) and live in CST year round, we're going to find ourselves in an ugly spot timezone wise ourselves. Road trips to half our division would be 9PM starts locally for most of the season.
I just can't see that proposal coming to fruition. Washington State has proposed scrapping Daylight time and staying on PST year round and if that happens, BC would follow very quickly.

Never underestimate an NDP government's ability to ignore reality.
The problem is that I fully support dumping daylight savings time. But not piecemeal. It has to be done on a national or continental level.
Daylight Saving Time is useless. But I also love the extra daylight in the evenings. The world should just switch to permanent DST and due away with standard time.

It's weird to me how the NHL has jumped through so many hoops to keep the Coyotes in Arizona but they bailed on the Thrashers so easily.
Atlanta literally had no place to play. They got kicked out of their arena, and the owners bailed on them. The league had no choice at that time. The Coyotes still have the GRA for another year. After that, who knows what will happen...moving to Quebec however would further create an imbalance among conferences. Seattle maybe? Portland? Quebec has a better shot at landing the Hurricanes in my opinion.
