Brown is an impressive athlete and he's a lot of fun to watch. Although Milos got by him in three sets, it was a good match to get Milos out of the gate. It forces him to play honest tennis. It's probably not the right term to use, but you guys know what I mean.

Will we see Joker quit? His arm looks like it's killing him and it's only the 2nd set.

That is one of the better set wins I've seen in a while by Janowicz. Fought off 15-40 to avoid going down 4-5, fought off 0-40 to get to 6-5 and then breaks Novak to win the set.

Janowicz giving a lot of points away in this 3rd set so far. Joker is hurt, Jano just needs to keep the ball in play and make him use his right arm as much as possible.

That Indian guy was up 4-1 and a break point in the 5th then cramped up and lost 6-4

Novak's section is pretty easy after this, so if he can survive he might get it together. Injury is a concern, but even 85% Novak can probably beat the whole field.

Also saw this, but Novak losing the second set is the first time he's lost a set in the first round of a major since US Open 2010.

Jerzy can win a game from 0-40 down or lose a game from 40-0 up :P

They've mentioned it on the broadcast but it's a really quiet, strange environment there tonight. No energy at all as it goes along.

there are no great shots, just seems like they're going through the motions.
Jerzy needs to break back and then there might be some noise.

I really thought Joker was going to lose or quit, so I have to give the guy credit for hanging in there and winning the match. Pretty friggin boring though after the 2nd set.

The New York Times is publishing some great tennis-related material lately. This is a true must read about the changes Tennis Canada's made and the growth of the sport in our country:

Quote:
Another contributing factor is immigration. Raonic was born in Montenegro, but his family moved to Brampton, Ontario, when he was a toddler. Andreescu’s parents are from Romania. Shapovalov was born in Israel to Russian parents, who moved to Canada a year later. Auger-Aliassime was born in Montreal, but his father is from Togo.
“I’m proud of that, and that’s a reflection of Canada,” said Murumets, the Tennis Canada president. “Tennis is the No. 1, 2 or 3 new sport of 75 percent of new Canadians, and we should try to capture their enthusiasm.”
