To the New York Islanders:
LW Lee Stempniak
$6.66 million in cap
To the Dallas Stars:
49th overall
54th overall
NYI's 2018 3rd
PHI's 2018 3rd
The Islanders acquire a veteran winger who is highly-rated and can still put up points, scoring 40 last year in the NHL for Carolina. While his cap hit is large, Dallas was thankfully able to cover it all. This trade also allows me to recreate the Carolina Hurricanes' actual second line... but I won't since I have a bunch of better centres than Derek Ryan.
Thanks to TurdFerguson for the negotiations.

The way I see it, Stempniak will put up another 50-point year for Carolina and I'll be able to trade him at the end of the season to a team like Detroit with a ton of cash available for some draft picks.
I'm not worried about the long-term at the moment, I'm in win-now mode.

Well done Turd. That's one contract that I didn't think would get moved.
Scorp gotta pray that he is right and Stemp somehow manages 50pts in the NHL. However I can't see him hitting last seasons 40pt mark again.
Will be interesting to look at this one next offseason.

In my experience, every contract is movable. There are times through the year where cap is more readily available. Sure, you may have to attach cap with the player or take a small return but almost everyone is movable.

Before claiming bums, take a good look at them. Lyubimov stinks and went to Russia before you claimed him. He will stink even more now and certainly wasn't worth a claim.

Honestly I think I'll just keep Stempniak at this point... he's still playable at the very least and upgrading to a guy like Bozak in FA won't help me much... going from a 69 to a 71 won't be the be-all and the end-all.
But no, not my finest moment...

Well that might not be a decision you can make. It really depends if someone claims Martin, if not your hands are really tied and you may be forced to trade good assets just to move those guys.
Personally I would buy out Martin.

How about you stop speculating on the futures of my players and let me work this out? Let people claim people as they choose. You posting this could hinder the possibility of someone claiming my player. If a mod could just delete this thread, please do it.
