Default West Edmonton Mall...

Making our annual family trip back to CGY next month. The little ones are finally old enough to enjoy West Ed. We were thinking about staying at the fantasy land hotel, doing the amusement park, water park and maybe either the minigolf or submarine thing.

I am looking forward to it. As an alberta kid, we used to go do those things once a year, and when any out of town family came in (after exhausting all the general CGY/Rockies stuff of course ).

Wondering if CP has any suggestions on how to do this in the most cost effective manner? If we stay at the fantasy land hotel, do we get discounted admission to the above mentioned activities? Groupon? Anything?

Thanks in advance!

You can save about $7/per person if you pick up passes at AMA in Edmonton if you're an AMA member.

You're making your trip to Calgary and you plan on visiting WEM? You have long days ahead.

We go to Edmonton once a year, sometimes we skip a year. We stay close to WEM. Days Inn West Ed has a family suite that fits our family of 5. The place is getting older-ish, but still very much acceptable. It is affordable and only a 5 minute drive to get to/from WEM. It also has a nice continental breakfast.

Staying at FantasyLand Hotel is quite pricey though it is super convenient if you plan on doing a lot of stuff at WEM and the theme rooms can be fun.

A couple of years ago we found coupons for the waterpark by searching online. I can't remember where it was but we saved the same amount on Waterpark passes as we would have by staying at Fantasyland hotel. You do get a $15 discount on Waterpark passes just for staying at Fantasyland.

You'll have to do some math to see which is better.

How old are your kids? Two years ago we went to https://jurassicforest.com/
My kids loved it. My older kid was a bit impatient, but the younger two loved it most. They were 5, 8 and 11.

If you have airmiles you can use them on passes for the water park, but i think it takes a few weeks to process them so you would have to apply for them pretty soon

My God...I cant even fathom the horrible things that must have happened in those godforsaken theme rooms...

I shudder at the thought.

If you know anyone in the military ask them to pick up discounted tickets for you here.

It is the best deal you will find for the waterpark.

Also, if you are up for the weekend, the waterpark is far slower on Sundays than Saturdays.

Not sure if they have them anymore. But they used to have one called the vegas lights room, with mirrors on the ceiling and the bathroom and shower were see through from the bed, a stripper pole along with the ability to change the lights to multiple different colours and themes.

Oh they still have them. Why don't you hop up onto the truck bed for a trip to pound town?

Oh man looked at the "Hollywood" room. Yeah it includes a "Tantra" chair. I can't imagine how many hairy sweaty arses have been peeled off of that thing.

I'm particularly a fan of the David Carradine room.

When I tried to click the link to the Fantasy Land Hotel to view the proof, my internet crashed.
