Brutal - see the comments above re BJ Penn... Again, unless he fights another has-been (Silva, or... I don't even know who else), in which case it's "the fight we have been waiting for for 10 years!", and he can cash in and retire. If he is actually planning on fighting "modern" fighters, this will end badly. He was already falling behind when he retired the first time...

He might be on a more even playing field now with the drug testing.

Hendricks, who beat him up into retirement, has looked freakin' awful since his supply of roids has dried up.

I wasn't thinking of Hendricks, and are you saying GSP is clean? I always had my doubts....

GSP was one the cleanest fighters and always advocated for stricter testing and penalties.

One of the biggest rumours is that George will fight Michael Bisping for the middleweight title. Bisping is older and less modern then GSP is.

Another question for the veterans...

I see fighter MMA records being reported as, for example, 16-4, but only 2-0 in the UFC, or fighter's making their UFC debut in the prelims on Fight Night.

1) What counts as an MMA fight? Bellator? One Championship? TUF? Other international competitions?

2) How does one "qualify" for the UFC? Is it strictly Dana White's preference?

I'm guessing no one makes their professional debut in the UFC and you need to prove you're already a good fighter before the UFC takes a look at you.

The Ultimate Fighter fights during the show don't count because they're two rounds and consider exhibition fights. Fights need to be atleast three rounds to be considered an actual fight.

Yes, if Dana doesn't want you then you won't be fighting in the UFC.

The majority of the time yes. CM Punk had no fighting experience at all but he was only signed because he's a big name in the wrestling world and it was a way to attract wrestling fans who weren't already MMA fans.

GSP is going to walk right through him. Bisping isn't the biggest or technical middle weight.

If I was Romero, Jacare or Rockhold, I'd be pissed off that I got bumped.

But those guys, especially Romero and Rockhold are HUGE dudes and would probably destroy GSP, if he win the middle weight belt.

This fight is strictly for the PPV buys, as those three guys don't draw anywhere near GSP does.

I'm glad GSP and Bisping are getting the huge payday they want. Nothing really changes if Bisping wins, things just get delayed. Maybe he fights Romero as his last fight. Rockhold says he wants a rematch with Bisping, regardless if he has the title. I could see Bisping retiring, just as a ####off gesture to Rockhold.

If GSP wins, everyone gets a bigger payday, just because he's a bigger draw. Although, I don't like his chances.

Sure, Rockhold, Jacare and Romero will be pissed.

But none of them could bring the type of ppv payday that this fight will bring. Hell, they may need 2 or 3 fights combined to get the payday that this fight will bring.

Be ticked off all day long, but GSP is going to get whatever fights he wants because he's a legend who brings the mainstream to the sport.

If i'm then i really want to be on the main card of that fight to increase my exposure. Watch the jockeying for those spots.

Card just took a huge dive.

Khabib v Ferguson cancelled due to Khabib having issues with the weight cut, hospitalized, and not medically cleared to fight.

That was the fight i was looking forward to, and now will no longer be buying this card. Wonderboy/Woodley will probably be a good fight, but I can't stand Woodley, so I'll save my money.

When MacGregor won the LW title from Alvares, many said he should fight Khabib next, and MacGregor said the stuff Bagor posted.

Turns out Conor was bang on.

Ferguson was classy about it though, which I didn't expect from his smack talk but apparently he had a tough weight cut as well, still being two pounds over the day of the weigh in.

The UFC was looking for a replacement to save the card but wouldn't give Ferguson the same dough since it would no longer be a title shot. Tony declined. He better have gotten his show money or that would be bush league.
