God damnit, an amazing act lost. Such a talented and unqiue voice. Wish I got to see him live.

I left them out because they aren't Seattle based but they are also one of my favorite bands of the 90's for sure and Weiland was also a fantastic talent. I even listened to his Christmas album lol.

Black Hole Sun. One of my absolute favourite rock songs of the 90's...

R.I.P. Chris...

August 10th 1994, Shaw Conference Center. My first crowd surfing experience...

Just gutted this morning with this news, Soundgarden was my favorite band to come out of Seattle.

Losing Lemmy sucked, but it didn't hurt as much. He lived a long life at full throttle, did it all and really had nothing else left to accomplish. Cornell though still seemed to have so much ahead of him, same with Dimebag

Anyways, surprised there's been no talk on here of Soundgarden's last song last night. It was a pretty strung out, tired, almost distraught cover of Led Zeppelins' "In my time of dying".

Quote:
In my time of dying, want nobody to mourn
All I want for you to do is take my body home

Well, well, well, so I can die easy

Jesus, gonna make up my dyin' bed.
Meet me, Jesus, meet me. Meet me in the middle of the air
If my wings should fail me, Lord. Please meet me with another pair

Well, well, well, so I can die easy

Jesus, gonna make up.. somebody, somebody...
Jesus gonna make up... Jesus gonna make you my dyin' bed

Oh, Saint Peter, at the gates of heaven... Won't you let me in
I never did no harm. I never did no wrong
Quote:
I see the smiling faces
I know I must have left some traces

And I see them in the streets
And I see them in the field
And I hear them shouting under my feet
And I know it's got to be real
Oh, Lord, deliver me
All the wrong I've done
You can deliver me, Lord
I only wanted to have some fun

Is it unprecedented for them to have played that Zeppelin song?

I believe so, but I was trying to find out. Seemed pretty deliberate if only for the distraught, spaced out emotion of the performance.

Man I have heard him in interviews in recent years and he sounded like a guy that had his life together and his alcoholism was a thing of the past. Damn shame to see this happen to someone with so much talent and reasons to live.

Me too. That's why I posted it. I'm not sure why that hurts more, but it does

The joke being played out is half of what makes it funny. In 2019 this joke is going to slay.

Agreed, pretty stunned to hear its a suicide. You would think in his 50's he'd have put a lot of demons behind him. I guess you truly never know what's going on in someone's head. So sad.

Very real possibility that this is another case of auto erotic asphyxiation.
