The Silca Seat Roll I ordered arrived today. This things is slick compared to the clunky one I was using before. Unnecessary? Yes. Still worth it? Also yes.

That is pretty, what brand and where did you order it from?

Did my first metric century this weekend - canal path out to Chestermere, down to Ralph Klein Park and back downtown via Bow pathways. 114km...or as I realized later, I basically did my longest ride ever (68km) and then rode another 46.

Getting from RK park past Stoney sucked. 114 ave would have worked fine, but I was hoping to stay in the country as opposed to industrial. 3-4 km on dirt roads weren't a huge problem, but getting through the fortress walls of Mahogany (plus construction) back onto the Greenway was the challenge. Had to ride wrong way down the Stoney exit to 88th street (essentially an exit to nowhere right now, so no traffic) then cross a bug infested median. After navigating some more suburban hell, the pathways on the ridges in Cranston were quite nice.

Canal pathway was interesting. Bumpy/humpy for the first few kms near the Bow River, then unremarkable industrial surroundings (with a lame little detour around Glenmore), but excellent ride as you approach Stoney Trail and beyond. Never knew it existed, just stumbled across it on Google Maps.

Hrmmm looks to be a nice tailwind for the ride in today! Fairly warm too. Should be a great one! I'm sure the afternoon will be fine. Nothing to worry about, right? Huh.

Ride in not too bad, Nose creek wind tunnel is in full effect which made for about an extra 3 minutes on the commute. Looking forward to some insane tailwind this afternoon, and then the pain of heading westbound.

Raced the rain clouds in today and i won. It had started to sprinkle at my house but I got out of it within a block or so. Great tailwind for my tired legs. Going home will suck.

this part can be made a little easier by taking the path south from stoney/114 and going into New Brighton. Then work your way thru NB to MacKenzie Towne then over Deerfoot and then a little deke thru Lake Mackenzie and you can then get back on the Bow River pathway - but I'd guess you would lose 10 to 15 k of distance.

congrats on the century though.

One day I'd like to ride the Mattmay Greenway right around Calgary - I thought I read it was something like 132 kms

A client made the decision for me by booking at 8:30am meeting. I didn't push back at all on the time so I'm not without fault.

Forecast rain - normally makes me take the bus. Yes, I'm one of those commuters.

But this morning something was different, there was no water pressure at home. So take the bus and shower at work, or bike and shower at work. Seemed like a no brainer, and the rain this afternoon is now a problem for future me.

It'll be fine, I'm sure. The wind can't actually get as strong as they are forecasting. Sounds made up to me. Everything is fine.
