You'd have a good giggle at my Diablo in my budget skil table saw then! They were on sale, so it was actually a smart buy!

Honestly, as long as the blade spins true and doesn't wobble (which is a bigger deal than the blade being used) it's not terribly laughable. The Ryobi stuff is just weaker motor-wise, more prone to breaking, and has less fitment features (eg moulding brackets) but usually do the job correctly. Probably a bigger pain in the ass to swap the blades as well.

They're pretty bad at being made true as well, so the poster should probably spend a bit of time on youtube learning how to tune a chop saw.

Honestly, though, if all you're using your chop saw is for MDF baseboard, crown or rough cuts, I don't think the blade is all that important. You just have to learn how to use DAP on that MDF.

I'd stay away from real wood baseboard and crown for quite a while until I had enough practice in. You can't hide bad workmanship in real wood like you can on a painted surface.

I'm still waiting for the right job to come along to upgrade to the Festool Kapex saw.

Spend the money on a good miter saw. You'll never get the precise angles you need with those those cheaper ones. Ryobi isn't horrible though and would probably do the trick for lite projects.

If you want to start doing furniture building though, spend the dough.

If you're building furniture you shouldn't be using a chop saw anyways. Cross-cut and mitre sleds for your table saw are much better.

Over and above that if your joinery skills stink - design your pieces to reduce the complex joinery needed.

Note to self. Figure out how to build a 6 car garage to house all these new tools.

You build your own sleds. You don't have to spend much money at all on them. And they don't take a lot of room.

Well, are you building fine furniture or doing home renos? You don't need any of that for home renos.

Both? Custom built-ins EVERYWHERE!

Did window trim yesterday @ Habitat. Boring stuff, don't think I learned much but I can say I did more good yesterday than most of y'alls

So when do you go solo and build your summer cottage?

Or are you looking at getting into contracting or just personal improvement? I love when I get to put stuff together.

I'd love to go out and build stuff... but I have zero capital for it.

Ya, unfortunately stuff costs money! So just for fun then? Or are you looking at contracting for money and get away from the desk?

Haha, no! I can't even afford to pay myself!

Just wondering if you had a goal for all this effort you are putting in.

You're already acting like a general contractor, since you haven't answered direct questions. I'm also just mad because my GC takes 30 minutes to stumble around an answer and he still doesn't actually get to the answer.

Are you looking to leave your desk job and go into working a trade (millwork, electrical, drywall, framing, etc.), or are you starting a business where you'll be the general contractor?
